Auction Number 5 – The wrap up.<br />
Thank you to everyone who made possible our biggest Auction yet. With over 50% more lots<br />
Auction 5 was always going to be a test, both of how buyers would react and whether we could<br />
cope with the increased workload. Touch wood, all aspects of the latest auction have run at least as<br />
smoothly as the first four. While there were some outstanding results the fact that the clearance rate<br />
was 82.7% is perhaps the best sign of strength within the hobby. At present we are still on track to<br />
have Auction 6 ready for late October / early November but that will be confirmed within the next<br />
2-3 weeks.<br />
While we do now have a large number of items being catalogued for future auctions we are always<br />
happy to accept more consignments. Whether single items, small groups or large collections please<br />

Highlights – Hammer Prices Shown: Marble bottles went well including: Lot 3, New Zealand Co.,<br />
North Fitzroy 13oz, $600; Lot 7, Yoxall Bros/Moonee Valley, 13oz, “A” basemark, $1550; Lot 23,<br />
Victorian Artillery, Queenscliff, 13oz, $651; Lot 24, Graham, Portarlington, 13oz, $580; The two<br />
Summons Cobalt Blue dump sodas (Lots 54 & 55) both sold well reaching $625 & $746<br />
respectively; Lot 56, Mosley dark green corker made $730 (probably good buying for such a good<br />
looking, rare bottle); Lot 64, Butt dark green Crown Seal made $650; The two “Big time” internal<br />
threads (Lot 67 – Wolstenholme's & Lot 70 – Dark purple Gamble's) made $1300 and $800; Lot 75,<br />
Purple Butt Lamont, $640; Lots 96 & 97 were spectacular, the small Cobalt Summons maugham<br />
and the large aqua Maugham making $5550 & $1708; Lot 104, very unusual Davis, Warrnambool<br />
patent ended at $2300; Lot 124, Bowman torpedo $620, which was the same price as Lot 126, Leak<br />
Benalla torpedo; Lot 134, original condition Dakin Brothers amber torpedo ended in a shootout that<br />
reached $3600; Lot 148, South Australian internal thread beer, $2000; Lot <strong>16</strong>1, fabulous condition<br />
Henry Wilding, Queenscliff ginger beer, $2250; Lot 190, Gothic pickle with large ground pontil,<br />
$660; Lot 196, Blue & White baby feeder made $920; Lot 2<strong>16</strong>, the Dr Mawdsley's cordial didn't<br />
reach the vendors reserve but did get bids to $3100; Lot 234, Wittner's Balwyn Quart milk, $1250;<br />
Lot 272, Emerald green Skipping girl vinegar made $610 (it's dark amber brother (Lot 271) got to<br />
$145); Lot 292, Stunning labelled Webber's Oil of Cream from Tassie, $720; Lot 319, the beautiful<br />
(and tiny) emerald green Pardey, Geelong chemist reached $545; the undamaged cobalt apothecary<br />
bottles went well, Lots 360 & 361 reaching $625 & $1050 respectively; Lot 374, Atkinson Oriental<br />
tooth paste with all over pink decoration sold after auction for $600; Lot 376, Blue Simpson &<br />
Davenport lid was in superb condition and sold for $2050; Lot 377, Alfred Felton, Alexandra tooth<br />
paste lid made $700; Lot 382, Dudley's, Prahran rectangular lid, $900; The super rare Dr Grant's<br />
Dandelion Bitters was also involved in an extra time shootout before settling at $1200; and finally<br />
the huge DCL Scotch whisky back bar barrel closed at $820.<br />
Phew! It has to be noted there were also plenty of cheapies, including loads of items from $10 to<br />
$100 but you can check them all out on the full results sheets attached.<br />
