(estimated probability 1% to 33% in nonwetlands).<br />

Examples: Fraxinus pennsylvanica,<br />

Cornus stolonifera.<br />

FACULTATIVE UPLAND FACU Plants that occur sometimes (estimated prob-<br />

PLANTS ability 1% to 67% to<br />

99%) in nonwetlands. Examples: Quercus<br />

rubra, Potentilla arguta.<br />

OBLIGATE UPLAND OBL Plants that occur rarely (estimated probability<br />

PLANTS 99%) in nonwetlands<br />

under natural conditions. Examples: Pinus<br />

echinata, Bromus mollis.<br />

* Categories were originally developed and defined by the USFWS National <strong>Wetland</strong>s Inventory<br />

and subsequently modified by the National Plant List Panel. <strong>The</strong> three facultative categories are<br />

subdivided by (+) and (-) modifiers (See Appendix C, Section 1).<br />
