Children’s Ministry
D-TOWN KIDZ SUNDAY PROGRAM SCHEDULE
Kidz Church-9:30 am
Classes for 3 year olds – 5 th Grade
Parents drop off and pick up children in appropriate
classes on the Children’s Hall.
Sunday School-11:00 am
1 class for Preschoolers and 1 class for K-5 th Grade
Children sit with parents until after children’s
sermon and then go downstairs to Children’s Hall.
Preschoolers can be picked up in Room 105. K-5 th
Graders can be picked up in Room 101.
VBS REGISTRATION IS OPEN
Our VBS this summer will be June 17-21 from
9am-12pm. Registration is now open! To register
your child/grandchild, please go to:
www.dahlonegaumc.org. VBS is one of the scrolling
events on the home page. Click on the VBS event
and then scroll down to and then hit click to register.
Our VBS is open to those children who have
completed Pre-K through 5 th Grade. We do offer 2 &
3-year old classes for our church and MMO families
and for our VBS volunteers. A nursery is provided
for those children under 2 whose parents are
volunteering. VBS is a free event for all children!

HILLTOPPERS MAY EVENT
Our next luncheon will be May 24, Noon, at a new
restaurant in Gainesville, Silver Bay Seafood, located at
2415 Brown’s Bridge Rd. If you don’t care for seafood,
there are many other entrées to select from.

CHP Food Pantry current needs are:
Mac n’ cheese, canned tuna, oatmeal, dried beans, peanut
butter and jelly.
Baby Pantry needs:
Size 3 and 5 diapers (store brands are fine!)
Personal Care Pantry:
Toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, and shampoo. The
Thrift Store is open each weekday from 10-5 and
Saturdays from 10-4. We welcome donations, shoppers,
and volunteers.

MINISTRY FAIR SUCCESS
On Sunday, May 5, the damp weather outside did
not dampen spirits as the congregation enjoyed the
Ministry Fair in the Fellowship Hall. A steady stream of
people flowed through, eating hot dogs, learning about
and connecting with over 40 ministries represented at
tables throughout the area.
Ministries for all ages and stages of life, focused on
congregational care, worship support, spiritual growth,
community outreach and international missions were
there because DUMC people lead and serve in all these
areas and more.

Thoughts from Jeff
Rev. Dr. Jeffery L. Ross, Senior Pastor
The Catholic Church traces the authority of the Pope to Jesus handing
over the keys to the kingdom of heaven to Peter in Matthew 16. I think that
the Methodist Church ought to be able to claim Paul as their forefather. Paul
spends most of the New Testament starting church after church and traveling
from one location to the next. He was the first circuit rider and circuit riding
was the model for early Methodist ministers. In Paul’s reflective moments he
is lamenting having to leave one church, but at the same time excited about the
opportunity God has placed before him in a new town. He reminisces about
the strong friendships that have sustained him but counts it as a joy to be
forging new relationships.
This past Sunday it was announced that the Bishop has appointed me to
the Cumming UMC. I am proud of the fact that I was allowed to stay at
DUMC for 10 years. For the first 140 years in the life of the church the
minister moved every single year. It has only been recently that ministers here
have stayed even 2, 3, or sometimes four years. Sherry and I have been able to
see three of our children graduate from Lumpkin County High School.
( When I started in ministry I never thought I would be able to say that we
would have 3 children graduate from the same school.) We have been blessed
by you. We have seen so many dreams and hopes realized. It has been exciting
to be in ministry with you. We will miss being a part of all the great things
God will be doing in and through you in the future.
At the same time I am excited about the opportunity to go to Cumming
First UMC. It is an honor to be chosen to go there. It is a testimony to the
good things we have been able to do here.
I will be back in the pulpit on May 25/26. My last Saturday/Sunday will
be June 8/9.
You will again be in good hands this weekend in worship. Ryan Stewart is
preaching at the 5:30 Saturday service. Christy Greenwald will be preaching
Sunday at 8:30 and 11:00 and Kerri Johnson will be preaching at 9:30.
