III. LabCorp
(Cont’d.)
IV. Court
build-up of ammonia in the urine sample and this can result in a ‘validity’
problem in the results.
• The LabCorp e-results, an on-line delivery system of test results directly to
the secured site of the registered treatment provider – is being utilized by
many providers.
• A treatment providers inquired if ADPA and LabCorp is planning to return
to the point of care test (POCT) type of drug testing. Answer: No. Even if
a product could be found that would be ‘approved’ this would require that
most of the agencies would have to undergo the process of becoming
“CLIA” certified, which does not seem feasible at this time.
• Ms. McIntyre announced that there will be training offered in lab-based
drug testing, and the classes will probably be scheduled for some time in
March. Notices will be sent out.
• Ms. Lima and Ms. McIntyre surveyed the treatment providers as to whether
the lab-based testing is working well. The ‘turn-around’ time for the
agencies to receive results seems to be about 24-48 hours. No one had any
complaints regarding this.
• Judge Luna and Judge Tynan could not be present.
• Judge Wright- Announced that he has been reassigned to another Court,
and will no longer be hearing Prop 36 cases.
• One treatment provider reported that the “Next Court Date” section in the
client’s TCPX file is not reflecting the new date on the clients’ TCPX
screens. Other providers stated they are also having this problem with the
TCPX.
• Public Defender- LabCorp was questioned as to their ability to respond to
the need to document that a marijuana participant’s THC level is actually
‘coming down’ while they’re claiming abstinence. The Deputy Public
Defender asked if obtaining confirmations on this type of drug testing
result could be expedited by having the Judge fax a Minute Order directly
over to LabCorp requesting the results rather than having it go through the
3
(858) 391-7175 fax.
