SWIM WITH YOUR
mobile
Go swimming with your new Sony Xperia Z— that's what the Gen Z is happy about
The best mobile as of
now in the market is
the Sony Experia Z
says Harshal
Chadha from EC
final semester and Aman Bhatnagar
feel that this phone's most popular
USP is its security from water and
dust. "Accidents of dropping
mobiles into water is a frequent
careless gesture by the younger generation.
So we love this phone ----, "
says Aman and his colleagues. Jagrit
Chawal from MRCE says "I have a
special preference for Sony phones
because of audio quality," Nandit
says the camera quality is incomparable!
Earlier Sony handsets such as the
Xperia S and Xperia T were extremely
promising from a brand striking
out on its own - but it's with the
Xperia Z that Sony is really banking
on making a cataclysmic dent in the
makeup of the smartphone market.
Officially it was unveiled back in
January at CES 2013 .The Android
Jelly Bean (4.2). Sony Xperia Z
comes with some of the best specs
on the market - and it's one of the
most eagerly awaited handsets.
Launching just before the HTC One
or Samsung Galaxy S4, Sony is trying
to steal an early march from its
competitors. "The Android phones
are a great possession says Jagrit.
Indeed, the first thing you notice
about Sony's new flagship device is
that the firm's designers have
ditched all the familiar Xperia
design language in favour of something
startlingly generic. From that
old curvy looks of previous phone to
new candybar shaped phone. The
Xperia Z is frankly a bit of a slab. It's
as solid as you could possibly desire
a handset to be and it has IP57 certification
for water and dust resistance.
Sony really deserves thumbs up
for the excellent placement of the
large on/off button and volume
rocker button, which fall to hand
very easily. A screen this big also
requires a large battery to power it,
and Sony has gone for a chunky
2,330mAh model. The phone provides
5h 48m in our continuous
video playback.
The 441dpi screen is impressive.
Put it alongside any 1280 x 720
Android or Retina iPhone display
and you will be impressed by the
crystal clarity and ultra-sharp definition.
The latest version of Sony's
Bravia Mobile Engine 2 further
enhances proceedings by sharpening
images and reducing noise
when you are looking at still pictures
or video.
With a cutting-edge camera, a
super-slim design and the ability to
withstand life's knocks and bumps
(and Android Jelly Bean to boot) the
Xperia Z is a phone that's got me
totally charmed by the phone says
Kartik from MRCE
The front of the Sony Xperia Z is
minimalist - showing off only a
Sony logo and front-facing camera.
The rear is a little busier, with various
tech info printed on it, plus the
Sony Xperia logo, an NFC badge,
camera light and the all-important
lens. Being a waterproof phone you
won't be able to remove the battery.
And not only that is comes with a
great line of best specs till date some
of them are: a quad-core 1.5GHz
Snaprdragon Krait processor, 13MP
camera, 16GB storage (expandable,
woohoo!), screen size 5in,
1,920x1,080 display. 2GB RAM,
water and dust-resistant, 1080p HD
screen with Bravia Engine, LTE and
integrated NFC connectivity
options.
Sony has increased the resolution
on the Xperia Z to 13MP and is
using its Exmor RS stacked image
sensor technology on the phone.
The tech allows for a larger light
sensitive layer which should theoretically
result in better photos both
in bright and low light.
Sony believes in quality and
assures the best one can think of
one proof is its NFC one can connect
with other NFC enabled
phones, speakers, LED's etc just
with a single touch of both the
devices.
One awesome thing which I discovered
while I was checking out
this amazing phone at a store was
that one can view desktop pages
clearly and easily without any problem
of zooming and can read the
whole text in the page.
Like any handset covered with
glass front and back - it's not Gorilla
Glass but some other type of toughened,
shatter-proof glass. Frankly
speaking The Xperia Z is all about
the glass front and rear; Dragontrail
glass on the front and the more
common Corning Gorilla Glass on
the rear.
The ports are spread out with the
headphone jack on top, the SIM slot
on the right hand side top followed
by standby button and the volume
rocker and on the other side are the
micro SD and charging ports.
Some features which I personally
don't like about Xperia Z is the narrow
gap between the screen and
chassis that includes the earpiece
and mic cut-outs. With time there
are chances of dust and dirt collecting
there. Another thing is that
Xperia Z is a fingerprint magnet and
can sometimes get to feel a bit
sticky. Buy the black one and you'll
be forever polishing it. I'd suggest
going for the white unless.
The iPhone 5 is the only real competition
in its class for now, until the
imminent arrival of the new HTC
One or Samsung Galaxy S4, this is
probably the most advanced
Android smartphone out there and
if you are not having a tight budget
you must go for it.
stores; they may offer you Bluetooth
with it without any additional
charges. Tell them that some other
seller is giving a waiver of Rs 500 or
giving you a memory card, scratch
card and ask them if they can offer a
better deal (Its worth giving a
try!!!!!!!!).And if you are going to purchase
it from a Sony centre, you
may still ask for extra gift items. For
devices like Xperia Z they are always
giving music Cd's and other items.
WISDOM OF THE
VISIONARY
Dr. O.P. Bhalla visions his thoughts and envisages
a future where the students acquire quality
knowledge which will help them to be placed in
high class Companies in the Corporate world
Over the last 15 years we
have grown from a
University of modest
ambitions and accomplishments
to a university of energy, optimism
and self-confidence. With
new courses added over the years
we have faced many challenges
and grown from strength to
strength with the support of highly
qualified teaching staff, an over
supportive Management and infra
structure which is world class.
There has always been an aspiration
to excel in all fields by providing
quality education. We leave
no stone un-turned whether it is
providing good library facilities or
lending assistance from research
analysts to our students. The focus
is on practical knowledge which
readies them to face the challenges
of the Corporate world.
Our aim is to invite Corporate
giants like Larsen &Toubro, Maruti,
TCS, JCB, IBM, SPACE group just to
mention a few. The Corporate
Resource Centre (CRC) under the
leadership of Major Gen. Bakshi ,
not only approaches the multinationals
but also ensures that a maximum
number of students are
placed. Packages are lucrative but
at some stage the challenge for us
is to get the students motivated to
face the tests and interviews. A lot
for growth and development'.
There were 6 tasks
namely :Global Discussion,
Global Screen ,Global
Paper ,Global Change
,Global Action and Global
Voice. The challenges
included grilling non-stop
discussion rounds, presentation
rounds, providing
practical solutions to water
related problems, webcam
interview with leading
Green Business tycoon.
Emaad emerged victorious
after successfully meeting
all the challenges.
An excited Emaad says -
"I am looking forward for
the day when I will be able
to dedicate my life for the
cause of humanity." He is
full of gratitude for the
of effort and hard work is involved
in bringing the Corporate to the
University Campus but sometimes
the students are dis-interested for
reasons which we often don't
understand. At this stage, the cooperation
of parents is what we
would ideally like. When parents
can mentor their students to
accept challenges and face interviews
with confidence, we are sure
the battle for jobs and placements
will not be difficult at all, because
we are confident of the grooming
we have provided to our students.
If we work in a three cornered triangle
which involves the students,
parent and the management, I am
sure we will be able to surpass our
milestones.
We all know that real academic
achievement is more complex,
based as it is on the interplay of
discovery, debate and individuals.
Success is inherently about people,
in our case the academic staff
and students have enriched this
institution. Our academic staff
and students will remain the most
precious asset that this University
possesses.
Best wishes
Dr O.P.Bhalla
(Chancellor , MRIU)
Management of Manav
Rachna especially his
motivator, Dr Amit Bhalla,
Vice President, who
encouraged him at every
step. He extends a big
THANK YOU to his 'next
mother' Principal Dhriti
Malhotra for her sincere
effort and constant
endeavour in making this
trip as the most cherishing
one in his life.
Young Emaad Muzaffar
of MRIS 46 (Grade X) is
growing leaps and bounds.
This energetic young boy
seems to have 'Midas
touch' and leaves everyone
spell bound with his sincerity,
dedication and a
strong urge to do something
from humanity.

A comment by Hindustan times about the
novel reads, "Te Amo...I LOVE YOU" is a
roller-coaster ride".
A GLIMPSE INTO THE BOOK
The book tells us the "Love Story of Aryan
& Isabella and reminds us of Romeo &
Juliet".
It is said that LOVE changes LIVES forever!
Well, it certainly does for Isabella and
Aryan. They meet. They fall in love. But
soon they realise that love is all about
Sacrifices, Efforts and Hope.
A sacrifice, which Isabella makes for her
Family and her love, Aryan..A sacrifice,
which compels her to stay with Ethan-the
man she hates most, and the man who tortures
her every day!
An effort, which Aryan makes to rescue his
love, Isabella, from the dreadful clutches of
the extremely powerful Ethan, and his
vicious gang.
A hope that persistently flares in the hearts
of Isabella and Aryan, a hope to stay
together, forever.
But will Isabella's selfless sacrifices bring
any good to her, or her loved ones? Will
Aryan's death-defying efforts be successful?
Will Isabella and Aryan's eternal hope
eventually come true?
Let's unfold together a fascinating saga
about passionate love, honest friendships,
and ruthless animosity-a story about happiness
and togetherness, hatred and revenge,
sacrifices and solitude, efforts and hope.
Rohit Sharma is working as a software
engineer in NOIDA. He has been fond of
writing since his college days. When asked
why he choose the topic of romance for
writing , he said , "
Most authors these day ,write on social
issues and not on romance. This book is
not on love of college lovers, or young couples
, it is for everyone. It is about love
between different relationships which exist
in a family.".
This book is a good read for those who
value different relationships and understand
the importance of maintaining good
rapport with different family members.
All you need is grit and determination and you can cross the hurdles
in life no matter how difficult these may be.
THE LADY
WITH THE
IRON WILL
Belonging to an
orthodox Haryanvi
family may be good
in many ways, but if you
belong to the female gender
then education is what you
can only dream about ------. It
was the motivation of her
mother and the strong support
and encouragement from
Dr. O.P.Bhalla, that Neeraj
Kumari has been able to prepare
for her PhD and will
soon become one of the
youngest Doctors in her own
field ---
Neeraj Kumari belongs to
the kind of Haryanvi family
from Faridabad where she is
the first woman in her society
to have taken the bold step to
indulge in the field of education.
Not only has she completed
her Masters in Human
Resource Management but is
preparing for PhD and will
soon be granted the status of a
'doctorate' . "For a girl belonging
to a Jat family , education
is more or less a taboo," says
Neeraj who is now working as
an Assistant Professor at the
Humanities & Management
Department at FET
"My book titled "Employee
Satisfaction and Growth
Analysis: A live study at Tata
Steel" was published in
August 2012. I am extremely
grateful to Dr. O.P. Bhalla,
Chancellor, Manav Rachna
International University for
being my source of inspiration.
Under his patronage; I
was able to bring out this
book, "says Neeraj.
Neeraj and the (H & M
department are organizing a
one- day "National
Conference on -- "Quality
standards of private technical
educational institutions" to be
held on 4th May, 2013. Neeraj
is working as Conference
Convener for the same project.
"The theme of the confer-
ence is same as my PhD title,"
she says.
Neeraj Kumari has been
able to publish and present 20
research papers in
International and National
Journals and Conferences and
she would like to thank all her
Faculty members and well
wishers who have helped her
and made this possible. Her
special thanks to Dr. M.K
Soni, Executive Director &
Dean and Prof. Naresh Grover,
Director, Faculty of
Engineering & Technology,
Manav Rachna international
University. Also she thanks
Prof. I.K Kilam. Dr. Chhavi
Sharma, Director, Faculty of
Management Studies and Dr.
Ruchi Malhotra, HOD, Faculty
of International Programmes.
This lady has an iron will of
her own and accepts that a
woman is incomplete without
being a house maker. "But
women are good multi-taskers
and they should be given the
chance and the appreciation
to manage the home front
and work front with equal
efficiency," she says with a
glitter in her eyes. "My mother
has been my biggest motivator.
She was not allowed to
continue her education and
always wanted to fulfill her
dream through me," she says.
Neeraj is lost for words when
she refers to the encouragement
and support that she
has received from Dr
O.P.Bhalla. "His vision , his
words of wisdom have made
my education complete. With
his support and perseverance
in making me see beyond the
horizon have seen me where I
am today," she says.
The moral of the whole situation
is : all you need is grit
and determination and you
can cross the hurdles in life
no matter how difficult these
may be.

FIRST PHD
FROM MRIU
Manav Rachna International University
achieved another milestone in the academic
world. The achievement is again a memorable
one as the first PhD was on the works of
Mahatma Gandhi.
Dr. Subhash Kumar of 2009-10 batch Ph D scholar
has been awarded PhD on topic entitled “Gandhi’s
Practice of Media Ethics and Its Relevance in India”. He
has been working on the subject under the supervision
of Dr. Atanu Mohapatra, HoD, and Faculty of Media
Studies. The PhD degree was conferred by his
Excellency, Jagannath Pahadia, Governor of Haryana. It
is a matter of pride for us that the research work has
been appreciated by eminent Gandhians and most of
the libraries of NCR and other academic institutions
have shown their desire for a copy of the thesis as it is
an innovative research and extremely relevant in the
field of Journalism and Mass Communication. “I am
extremely grateful to Chancellor, Dr O.P.Bhalla for his
constant motivation and support. Without the right
kind of academic environment, it would never have
been possible to achieve my goal. I am truly thankful to
The Management of MRIU ,” said Subhash.
“It was hard work but the hours of toil were enjoyable.
And when the PhD finally came through it was like
Dr. Subhash Kumar receiving his Doctorate
from the Governor of Haryana
a dream come true. To have the title of “Dr” before my
name was something which I will be able to cherish all
of life,” says a beaming Subhas. Speaking on the occasion
Dr Amit Bhalla, Vice President inspired Subhash
with his motivating words and told him that this was
the start of a new chapter.
The Vice Chancellor, Dr N.C.Wadhwa said, “It is
always a special moment when the first PhD is awarded
from any University. It is a double pleasure when the
topic is on Mahatma Gandhi and his ethics.”
The Dean, Prof Umesh Kalra congratulated Subhash
and extended his warm greetings on the occasion. The
HOD said, “Subhash has been a meticulous worker and
his hard work has reaped the fruits it deserved,” said Dr
Atanu Mohapatra.
of forming the music society,
these students are taking the
Music Society of the University
huge success of the first show of
the Society.
"I wanted to create a music
society in the campus, it was an
urge to bring melody into college
life," says Sidharth who is a 4th
semester student of EC. Sidharth
himself has been playing different
forms of guitar from Blues to Jazz.
"We want the trained group of
music students to teach the new
learners in different instruments.
We would encourage students to
share their expertise with those
S
who want to take
their first lessons in music," says
Hermann Singh, another member
of the music society studying in
6th semester Civil engineering .
"My motivation to music is
John Mayer, Andy McKee and
Steve Vaughn," says Sidharth
who is taking a keen interest in
taking the Society ahead.
Dushyant Rampal, who has been
the 'Voice of Manav Rachna' for
four consecutive years wants to
make his contribution to the
they will get music lovers from
across the University to join
them.
age group of 19-21 years and represent
their College of
Engineering at Manav Rachna,
These young boys are all self
learnt - "We have learnt to play
our individual instruments with
guidance from the internet. None
of us have any formal training,'
say the members of the band who
have two names: Desert Rain and
Liquid Plead . "When we perform
Hindi songs we call ourselves
Desert Rain and when we perform
in English we are called
Liquid Plead," say the band
members in unison.
This group of youngsters
formed the band a year and a half
ago and have represented their
college at various inter-collegiate
programmes and have won prizes
too. At the fest at Rawal in
February 2013 they won the first
prize and were given the opportunity
to record a track. They also
won the first prize while performing
through their Hindi band and
the second prize with their English
performances at Lingyas.
The band leader is Sidhant Jain
who is the lead guitarist and is
looking forward to play more
often at different college fests.
Nandit Dhana gives his vocals
while playing for Liquid Plead, he
is the BASS guitarist for Desert. "I
love to be the back bone of the
band group," says Himanshu
Arora who is on the drums and
believes that rhythm is a strong
background for any music. He
has been playing the drums for
the past 2 years and is also self
learnt. Kartik Chanana takes
Indian music to a different height
while performing with his band
members. He is on the tabla and
says, "I love Indian music and
tabla can be one of the fittest tributes
to Indian music." Jagrit
Chawla is on the keyboards for
his band and is all out to play
metal which he thoroughly
enjoys.
Future plans for the University:
events or at different inter- collegiate
Seeds of Change: The
band from MRDC
Band Seeds of Change got its first
opportunity at the expressions
2013 organized by Manav Rachna
Dental College in February 2013.
Consisting of four members, the
band likes to play
alternative rock and classic
rock and some of their favorite
numbers are 'Guns n roses', 'Pink
Floyd', 'Audioslaves', 'Green
Day,' and many more.
Harris- who is the band manager
said, "I was approached by
the college authorities to put a
rock band together for the festival
happening at the MRDC
level," said the student from
MRDC who is also a rhythm guitarist,
"It was an opportunity
which we did not want to miss,"
said the, lead vocalist of the
band. Harris got 3 of his colleagues
together and as
Himangshu who is the Bass guitarist
for the band, said , " We
worked day and night to practice
the songs which we had decided
to put up at the fest."
"We received a lot of support
from the Management at all levels,"
said Viktor who is the
Drummer for the band. "And
our hard work paid off as we got
a good receptive audience on the
day of the show," said Reuben,
the Lead Guitarist.
The songs which the band
played were: Sweet child of mine
by GNR, Be yourself by
Audioslaves and Jiyein Kyun by
Papon. "On the day of the event,
the crowd was very supportive
and despite some last minute
glitches we managed to pull off
the show," say the band members
in unison. The overall experience
according to the band
members was fabulous, ,awesome
and pretty unique. "All of
us aren't strangers to performing
shows, but MRDC expressions
was special for each one of us.
This would not have been possible
without the support of our
faculty at MRDC and MRIU,"
said the band members
With Harris as the band leader
who has individually, recorded
songs of his own and likes to
dabble in genres like RnB,
Alternate rock, Soft Indie, and
Acoustic numbers., the band
should be able to take big strides
and set new milestones for themselves.
Harris on his own has
recorded 2 songs. "No Regrets"
and "Aisa Kyun"
Future plans for the
