(4) The officer will exercise an option, within six months of his<br />

absorption, for either of the alternatives indicated below:<br />

(a) Receiving the monthly Pension and Retirement Gratuity already<br />

worked out, under the usual Government arrangements;<br />

(b) Receiving the gratuity and a lumpsum amount in lieu of pension<br />

worked out with reference to commutation tables obtaining on<br />

the date of superannuation 1 [or the date of absorption/<br />

invalidation or completion of twenty years of qualifying service<br />

had the officer continued in Government service, whichever is<br />

later]<br />

(5) Where no option is exercised within the prescribed period, the<br />

officer will automatically be governed by alternative (b) above.<br />

(6) Option once exercised shall be final.<br />

(7) The option shall be exercised in writing and communicated by<br />

the officer concerned to the undertaking.<br />

(8) Where an officer retires from the service of a public undertaking<br />

before his date of superannuation, the proportionate pension and Retirement<br />

Gratuity will not be paid to him till such time as he actually attains the age of<br />

superannuation. This will be the case irrespective of the option exercised by<br />

him.<br />

2 [Provided that where a Government servant retires on or after 29th<br />

October, 1979, from the service of any public undertaking before the date of<br />

his superannuation on account of permanent invalidation or in the case of<br />

death while in service on or after the said date, the proportionate pension and<br />

Retirement Gratuity shall be settled immediately on such invalidation and<br />

retirement from service on that ground or on the death of the employee<br />

irrespective of the option exercised by him.]<br />

(9) Cases of resignation from a public undertaking etc., will be<br />

treated as resignation from Government service entailing<br />

forfeiture of the earlier service under Government and loss of<br />

the pensionary benefits.<br />

(10) For the period of service rendered in a public undertaking etc.,<br />

the absorbed officers will be entitled to all the benefits etc.,<br />

admissible to other corresponding employees of the<br />

organisation.<br />
