4. Medical Examination dispensed with in certain cases :-<br />

Commutation without Medical Examination :-<br />

a) If the application for commutation of pension is received within one<br />

year after retirement on superannuation, medical examination is not necessary.<br />

b) i) The benefit of commutation of pension without medical examination<br />

is extended to the cases of (1) Retiring Pension, (2) Pension on<br />

absorption in or under a Corporation or Company or Body and who elects to<br />

receive monthly Pension and Retirement Gratuity. (3) Compensation<br />

Pension, (4) Voluntary Retirement after 20 years.<br />

ii) These orders shall not apply to Government servants (a) who<br />

retire on invalid pension; and (b) who, on absorption in or under a Corporation<br />

or Company or Body, elect to the alternative of receiving the Retirement<br />

Gratuity & lumpsum in lieu of Pension and (c) who apply for commutation<br />

after one year of retirement.<br />

iii) In the case of Government servants absorbed in a Corporation<br />

/ Company / Body and who elect to receive monthly pension and<br />

Retirement Gratuity, the period of one year for the purpose of commutation<br />

shall be reckoned from the date of issue of Government orders allowing<br />

such absorption.<br />

iv) In the case of those to whom only provisional pension is<br />

granted, if after conclusion, entire pension is withheld, the question of commutation<br />

does not arise. In the case of others to whom pension was allowed<br />

either in full or in part, the period of one year has to be reckoned from the date<br />

of issue of orders on conclusion of the proceedings.<br />

The Government servant has to apply in the prescribed form<br />

and the commutation will become absolute on the date on which the<br />

application is received by the Head of the Office.<br />
