Authority. Therefore, it is imperative that the Heads of Office/Departments/Pension<br />

Sanctioning Authorities, should communicate<br />

to the Pension Issuing Authority, in advance to the actual<br />

date of retirement of the Government servant, if there are any<br />

circumstances necessitating withholding of release of pension<br />

and or Gratuity to the employee who retires and also<br />

to communicate the amount due and recoverable from the retirement<br />

gratuity failing which they alone shall be held responsible<br />

for any loss which may be caused to Government.<br />

14. Procedure to be followed to settle Gratuity and Family Pension<br />

in certain cases<br />

A. In the case of employee dying while in service<br />

(i) Retirement Gratuity :<br />

If the deceased Government servant, on the date of death, has rendered<br />

more than 5 years but less than 18 years of qualifying service and the<br />

spell of last 5 years service has been verified and accepted by the head of the<br />

Office/Department, the amount of retirement Gratuity shall be subject to a<br />

minimum of *[9 times of his emoluments] as in Rule 46 (1) (b), of Andhra<br />

Pradesh Revised Pension Rules <strong>1980</strong>, where the verified accepted service<br />

is less than 5 years of qualifying service, the amount of service gratuity shall<br />

be as in Rule 46 (3) of Andhra Pradesh Revised Pension Rules <strong>1980</strong>. If the<br />

Government servant had rendered more than 18 years of service and the<br />

entire service is not capable of being verified and accepted, but the service<br />

for the last five years has been verified and accepted, the family of the deceased<br />

Government servant shall be allowed, on provisional basis, gratuity<br />

equal to *[9 times the emoluments]. Final amount of the gratuity shall be<br />

determined by the Head of Office/Department on the acceptance and verification<br />

of the entire spell of service which shall be done by the Head of<br />

Office/Department within a period 6 months from the date on which the<br />

authority for the payment of provisional gratuity was issued. The balance if<br />

any, becoming payable as a result of determination of final amount of<br />

Retirement Gratuity, shall then be authorised to the beneficiaries.<br />

* Note :- Revised calculation of gratuity in the above cases w.e.f<br />

30-1-99 is as follows :-<br />

1/4 of pay last drawn for each completed six monthly periods<br />

of 18 years is 9 times only as per [G.O.Ms.No.14, F&P<br />

(FW.Pen.I) Dept., dt 30-1-99], the earlier provision was 12<br />

times.
