The Delegation of Canada, speaking as the Chair of the insession
Working Group on priority, introduced the report of the
working group, as presented in CRD 5. It was noted that the
Working Group had also considered a request for a safety
assessment for a colour from huito or jagua (Genipa
americana), as previously agreed.
The Committee noted that all requests from the 2010 Priority list
were scheduled for evaluation at the 74th meeting of JECFA to
be held in June 2011, with the exception of 133 flavourings.
New Requests for Evaluation
The Committee agreed with the list of requests prepared by the
in-session working group. The safety assessment for the use of
pectin in infant formula and formulae for special medical
purposes intended for infants was supported by a Member and
thus included in the priority list.
COMMITTEE'S DECISION
The Committee agreed to forward the
Priority list of substances proposed for
evaluation by JECFA to the 34 th Session of
the Commission for approval.
