first stretch of your journey takes you to Heidelberg, where you spend
the night in Hotel Grenzhof or Holländer Hof. Enjoy your first evening and
prepare yourself for the exciting days ahead!
Day 2: Heidelberg
Heidelberg is not just world famous for its renowned castle, Germany‘s oldest
university and historic alleyways in the old town, but it is also internationally
recognised as a modern science and business hub with an extremely lively and
varied cultural scene. Discover what it has to offer before taking the funicular
railway up to the castle. The exclusive tour of the castle will transport you back
to the times of the Prince Electors of Palatinate. Return to your hotel room in
the evening.
Day 3: Sinsheim
Today takes you to Sinsheim, where you will visit the car and technology
museum. The Auto & Technik Museum showcases thousands of diverse
exhibits charting the history of technology, including vintage cars, motorbikes,
aeroplanes, racing cars, locomotives and military vehicles, to name but a
few. Nowhere else in the world can you see a supersonic Concorde jet and a
Tupolev 144 on the roof of a museum – and you are even allowed to step on
board! This diverse exhibition appeals to everyone – not just technology fans.
Travelling on, you can enjoy the picturesque roads, green forests and idyllic
villages along the way. You overnight in the Panoramahotel in Waldenburg or
in the Wald & Schlosshotel in Friedrichsruhe.
Day 4: Schwäbisch Hall
After breakfast, you leave and head towards Schwäbisch Hall. The unique
historic town with the famous Goethe-Institut, boasting one of the most
Day 5: Rothenburg ob der Tauber
Rothenburg ob der Tauber‘s medieval townscape is responsible for its
worldwide reputation. Strolling through the alleyways, looking out over the
magnificent Taubertal, excursions in the delightful region and tasting local
specialities ... these are some of the finest memories that visitors take away
with them. A guided tour allows you to enjoy the full beauty of the town.
You overnight in a specially selected hotel in the old town.
Day 6: Nuremberg
Your journey takes you on to Nuremberg. The emblematic Kaiserburg castle
in Nuremberg, which is one of the most important medieval royal palaces,
towers above a town that is home to numerous art treasures, museums and
500,000 inhabitants. A guided tour of the town gives you the chance to
learn more about Nuremberg‘s boom in the Middle Ages, whose effects can
still be seen and felt today. You overnight in a hotel in Nuremberg.
Day 7: Bamberg
Your journey takes you from Nuremberg and on to Bamberg. There is
much to discover in Bamberg: a multitude of listed buildings exuding a
combination of medieval charm and baroque architecture. Discover the late
Romanesque / early Gothic cathedral with its world-famous statue of the
Bamberg horseman or the Old Town Hall, built in the middle of the Regnitz
river. A knowledgeable guide will turn your tour of the town into a real
Day 8: Bayreuth
Today‘s route takes you through Coburg, Kronach, Kulmbach and on to
Bayreuth. In the morning, you will visit the fortress in Kronach. The
23.6-hectare site makes it one of the largest fortifications in Germany.
The virtually symmetrical, textbook example of a fortification has enclosed
the complex of walls, graves, buildings and towers for centuries and is still
complete today. You will arrive in Bayreuth early afternoon. Discover
Richard Wagner‘s town, the Festspielhaus and the Hermitage on a private
tour. After these historic treats, you will return to your hotel in Bayreuth.
Day 9: Pilsen
Your journey takes you from Bayreuth and on to Pilsen. Today‘s route includes
the Tepla monastery, which was founded in 1193 and is one of the most
well known monasteries in Europe. A guided tour will let you experience the
history of the holy halls first hand and reveal more about the importance of
monasteries in the Middle Ages. Slowly round off this eventful day with a little
beer tasting and a cosy evening. You overnight in a specially selected hotel.
Day 10: Prague
After breakfast, your journey along the Castle Road today takes you past
Burg Karlstein, where you can pay a visit. This castle is one of the key medieval
attractions in the Czeck Republic, as well as one of the most-visited. It was
founded in 1348 by the Bohemian and Roman King, Charles IV. After the
visit, you continue on towards the “golden city” of Prague, where you check
in to your hotel.
Day 11: Prague
Prague is a city in which many centuries have been immortalised: the Golden
City. Right from the outset, the Vltava River was the lifeline between the
ancient royal city and the magnificently imposing castle, which successfully
