<strong>the</strong>y are unfolded <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> heavens above, and <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Have we not seen <strong>the</strong> vernal season gayly usher <strong>in</strong>,<br />

nature put on her beautiful garments of liv<strong>in</strong>g green,<br />

and <strong>the</strong> bloom<strong>in</strong>g earth everywhere give promise of<br />

abundant fruits - <strong>the</strong>n suddenly, and <strong>in</strong> a day, <strong>the</strong><br />

warm, balmy, and life-giv<strong>in</strong>g breath of spr<strong>in</strong>g, is<br />

changed to a chill<strong>in</strong>g blast; <strong>the</strong>re comes a nipp<strong>in</strong>g<br />

frost, like a cold-blooded assass<strong>in</strong> with cruel <strong>in</strong>tent,<br />

blast<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> numerous tribes of flowers, tender plants,<br />

and budd<strong>in</strong>g fruits! Yet see we no disharmony <strong>in</strong><br />

nature's vast empire 1 Whence come pestilence, fam<strong>in</strong>e,<br />

floods, droughts, desolat<strong>in</strong>g tempests, earth.<br />

quakes, and volcanoes 1 Undeniably, <strong>the</strong>re are disorders<br />

<strong>in</strong> natnre; beside, <strong>the</strong> world is full ofmorsl evilI
