First, there is the mere love of morality ; that alone, without
cukure, degenerates into fatuity; knowledge, dilettantism;
honesty, heartlessness; uprightness, tyranny; courage,
recklessness; strength of character, eccentricity. Couv.

CHAPTER IX.--THE EDUCATING INFLUENCE
