CONCERNING VIRTUE, NOBILITY,<br />

AND POLITY.<br />

CONTENTS.--This interesting book suitably opens with<br />

the name of Yen Ytian, the beloved disciple. It contains<br />

twenty-four sets of maxims, addressed to different disciples<br />

and others, principally on Virtue, the noble man, State<br />

policy, and other subjects. The different answers given to<br />

the same question are supposed to suit each questioner's<br />

need.<br />

CHAPTER I.--VIRTUE IS SELF-DENIAL AND<br />

SEEMLINESS.--Cf. Phil. IV. 8, For _C.and _ see Intro.<br />
