L. It is by the Odes that the mind is aroused. It<br />

is by the Rules of propriety that the character is established.<br />

It is from Music that the finish is received.<br />

Z. exordiae a Carmine, confirmaberis per Ritus, perficieris<br />

per Musicam. K. In education sentiment is called out<br />

by the study of Poetry ; judgment is formed by the study<br />

of the arts; and education of the character ...... music.<br />

Couv. Le disciple de la sagesse excite en son coeur des<br />

sentiments honn_tes'par la lecture des Vers (du Cheu<br />

King) ; il affermit sa volont6 ...... Li Ki'; il perfcctiolme sa<br />

people in ignorance_this was th_ 'jugglery' of men in<br />

after ages. L ....... a path of action, but they may not be<br />
