Meeting Date: Tuesday, September 25th, 2012<br />

Attendees: Mr. Cardamone, Mrs. Incaviglia, Mrs. Pozzobon, Mrs. Leo, Mrs. Lorentz-Dino, Mrs.<br />

1. Welcome: Call to order by Mrs. J. Lettieri at 6:35 p.m. Introductions made.<br />

2. Opening Prayer: Prayer read by Mrs. L. Incaviglia<br />

3. Review and approval of Agenda & Previous <strong>Minutes</strong>: Motion to approve the existing agenda<br />

by Mrs. Rotella and Mrs. Manlow, motion carried. Motion to approve previous minutes by Mrs.<br />

Burciul, Mrs. Manlow, Mr. Bongers, motion carried. Declaration of conflict of interest: Mrs.<br />

Iuliano stated she was employed by the board, and considered “casual”. Mr. Cardamone provided<br />

direction regarding the item.<br />

4. <strong>Loretto</strong> <strong>Catholic</strong> By-Law review: Mrs. Lettieri and Mr.Cardamone reviewed the by-laws. No<br />

recommendations to change or modify existing By-laws. Motion by Mr.Bonger and Mrs. Manlow to<br />

approve By-Laws as read. Approved and carried.<br />

5. Chair’s Report:<br />

• Pro-Grant summer numeracy and literacy program, approved for another $1000<br />

• Nutrition Partner –explained to group what it was and funding provided – Mrs. Burciul<br />

• Fundraising Goals – Next meeting to set goals for fundraising. Three areas of need are<br />

technology, leveled readers and gym/playground equipment. Members expressed interest in<br />

forming a sub committee to discuss ideas. Meeting is set for October 9 th at 6:30 in the library,<br />

and an article in the October newsletter will notify all members of the community.<br />

• NPCIC Annual Conference to be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012.<br />

5.5 Elections- Members who submitted nominations ensured forms were in. All members present<br />

at this meeting (except Mrs. DiPietro) wanted to act as voting members. Mrs. Lettieri was<br />

nominated and elected as chair. No other member interested in running for chair position. Regrets<br />

were sent in by 5 members. Mrs. Battaglia expressed her interest to Mrs. Incaviglia about becoming<br />

the parish rep. Total of 23 voting members (quorum is 12).<br />

6. Treasurers Report: Mr. Cardamone shared that the balance forwarded is $665.12.


7. Principal’s Report:<br />

• Welcome: To Mrs. Elizabeth Mostowy (SK), Mrs. Ermie Avolio (JK/SK), Miss Tracy<br />

Kovacs (Gr. 1), Mrs. Lauren Sommise (Gr. 1), Miss Melanie Mengia (Gr. 5), Mr. David Cullen<br />

(Gr. 6), Mrs. Laura DiBartalameo (Gr. 7), Miss Johanna Miller (FSL), Mrs. Susy Walsh (ERT),<br />

Mrs. Katie Arbour (Secretary), Mr. Mario LaFratta (Caretaker), Ms. Jennifer Aleo (Caretaker),<br />

Mrs. Lisa Incaviglia (Vice Principal).<br />

• Vetting of Policies: We are now in the process of vetting Elementary Standardized Dress<br />

Code Policy, Employee Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy, Attendance Support Program Policy.<br />

• Faith Formation Program: In alignment with <strong>Niagara</strong> <strong>Catholic</strong>’s Vision 2020 Strategic<br />

Plan, a Faith Formation Program has been launched for all staff this year. The program is<br />

entitled, Growing in Wisdom, to Worship and Witness. All staff at <strong>Loretto</strong> <strong>Catholic</strong> will be<br />

encouraged to make use of this valuable opportunity.<br />

• Electronics Communication Policy: As per policy No. 301.5, ‘Cell or smart phones, tablets,<br />

laptops, audio or video recording devices are prohibited for use by students unless specifically<br />

approved by staff for instructional purposes’.<br />

• Mad Science: We kicked off the Mad Science campaign on Tuesday, September 18 th . The<br />

club will begin Monday, October 1 st for four sessions.<br />

• Technology Update: Operating systems have all been updated to Windows Server 2008,<br />

which includes Microsoft 2010. <strong>Loretto</strong> <strong>Catholic</strong> is scheduled to have wireless equipment<br />

installed, date to be determined. The new laptops housed in Earthwalk Mobile Computer Carts<br />

are scheduled to arrive soon. A Smartboard has been installed in our Grade 1 classroom. Many<br />

staff members are interested in housing a Board.<br />

• EQAO: In the junior assessment results, 84% of all students achieved levels 3, 4 in reading;<br />

76% of all students achieved 3, 4 in writing and 80% of all students achieved 3, 4 in math. In the<br />

primary assessment results 58% of all students achieved levels 3, 4 in reading; 69% of all<br />

students achieved levels 3, 4 in writing and 66% achieved levels 3, 4 in math.<br />

• Peter Pan Musical: <strong>Loretto</strong> <strong>Catholic</strong> will attend Peter Pan – The Musical on Friday,<br />

December 7 th @ 11:00 a.m. All students and parents are invited to attend.<br />

• Congratulations! Congratulations to <strong>Loretto</strong> <strong>Catholic</strong>’s Girls’ Three Pitch team… who placed<br />

third, just one point away from second at today’s tournament. The girls demonstrated true<br />

sportsmanship and Lynx spirit! Special thanks to Coaches Mrs. Walsh and Miss Mengia!<br />

8. Staff Report- Mrs. Pozzobon discussed picture day, Mad Science presentation, children<br />

adjusting wonderfully to new recess time and new students at <strong>Loretto</strong> <strong>Catholic</strong>.<br />

9. Parish Report- Father Peter Rowe is new to St. Thomas More, upcoming Communion meeting<br />

announced by Mr. Cardamone. Mr. Bongers asked if Father Peter could be invited to the next CSC<br />

meeting.<br />

10. Community Rep/Community Update- None<br />
