FOREWORD<br />
Followingfrom <strong>the</strong> provision <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Education National Minimum Standard andEstablishment<br />
<strong>of</strong>Institutions Decree 16<strong>of</strong>August 1985 it is <strong>the</strong> policy <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> Board that all programl1 les leading<br />
to national awards such as <strong>the</strong> National Diploma ND and Higher National Diploma HND<br />
shall be re accredited every five years This is to ensure that high academic standards are<br />
maintainedin our technical education institutions<br />
This re accreditation exercise is intended to ensure that all programmes granted accreditation<br />
have<strong>the</strong> minimum teaching resources available to <strong>the</strong>m which are being maintained and teaching<br />
and learning are takingplace Allbeing well it is hopedthat a culture must have been established<br />
in <strong>the</strong> department that ensures atall times that <strong>the</strong> l1 linimum nationalstandard <strong>of</strong> education was<br />
being maintained and improved upon<br />
This publication highlights <strong>the</strong> re accreditation process It also includes <strong>the</strong> criteria <strong>for</strong><br />
re accrediting a programme <strong>the</strong> composition <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> adhoc programme accreditation team <strong>the</strong><br />
roles <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>NBTE</strong> <strong>the</strong> institution and team members be<strong>for</strong>e during and after <strong>the</strong> adhoc<br />
accreditation visit It is hoped that <strong>the</strong> content will provide adequate in<strong>for</strong>mation andguidance<br />
to affected institutions team members and <strong>the</strong> general public<br />
