RIGHT TO INFORMATION ACT, 2009 – CHECK LIST<br />
1. FEE Cost of copy<strong>in</strong>g plus a fee of Rs 50 generally.<br />
BPL citizens are exempted from fee.<br />
2. EXEMPTIONS No of exemptions <strong>in</strong>creased to 11 clauses only ,<br />
20 years old <strong>in</strong>formation also has 3 restrictions.<br />
Class exemptions are provided.<br />
3. TIME LIMIT Thirty days for grant<strong>in</strong>g or refusal.<br />
4. URGENT REQUEST <strong>Information</strong> regard<strong>in</strong>g rise and liberty has to be<br />
given with<strong>in</strong> 48 hours.<br />
5. SUOMOTO DISCLOSURE Public Authority ahs no obligation to disclose.<br />
Sec 4 (clause (2) )<br />
6. APPEALS Appeal is provided to Appellate Authority and<br />
thereafter to <strong>Information</strong> <strong>Commission</strong>.<br />
7. PRIVATE BODIES Private bodies are left out of purview.<br />
8. MEANS OF<br />
Disclosure <strong>in</strong> websites, pr<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g of modules,<br />
COMMUNICATION workbooks, etc to made mandatory.<br />
9. PUBLICATION & ACT It is mandatory.<br />
10. TRAINING It is mandatory.<br />
11. PENALTIES Rs 250 per day not exceed<strong>in</strong>g Rs 25,000 can be<br />
imposed for delay , unjustified denial, etc., and<br />
departmental action is recommended<br />
( Imprisonment provisions removed ).<br />
12. REGULATORY BODY <strong>Information</strong> <strong>Commission</strong> is created as a<br />
Regulatory at Center and <strong>State</strong> levels, with<br />
<strong>in</strong>dependent powers.
