<strong>SCA</strong> Skog manages <strong>SCA</strong>’s forests<br />
and is responsible for wood procurement<br />
and timber transportation<br />
to industries in Northern<br />
Sweden. The forest holding comprises<br />
approximately 2.6 million<br />
hectares of forestland, of which<br />
2 million hectares is managed for<br />
timber production. <strong>SCA</strong> Skog<br />
comprises five forest districts, one<br />
unit for wood procurement, two<br />
seedling nurseries and a newly<br />
formed unit for aggregate<br />
products.<br />
The standing forest volume<br />
amounts to 210 million cubic<br />
metres (m 3fo) comprising pine<br />
(43%), spruce (39%), deciduous<br />
trees (13%) and contorta pine<br />
(5%). Growth amounts to 3.9<br />
m 3fo per hectare and year. In<br />
<strong>2011</strong>, harvesting in <strong>SCA</strong>’s own<br />
forests amounted to 4.4 million<br />
cubic metres solid wood under<br />
bark (m 3sub), while timber procurement<br />
from private forest<br />
owners amounted to 2.6 million<br />
m 3sub.<br />

company’s strategy, contributing<br />
to a stable cash flow and reliable<br />
supplies, as well as facilitating<br />
quality assurance and cost<br />

Revaluation of forest<br />
holdings<br />
The total value of <strong>SCA</strong>’s forest<br />
assets in <strong>2011</strong> was SEK 26,729m.<br />
Forest seedlings<br />
<strong>SCA</strong>’s nursery operation Norr<br />
Plant consists of the Bogrundet<br />
and Wifstamon nurseries. Some<br />
50 employees work at the facilities,<br />
of whom 32 are seasonal<br />
employees. The total production<br />
capacity is 100 million seedlings<br />
per year. During <strong>2011</strong>, <strong>SCA</strong><br />
NorrPlant delivered 89.5 million<br />
seedlings, with 38 million going<br />
to <strong>SCA</strong>’s own forests and the<br />
remainder to external customers.<br />
