number of thefts, fraud, friction amongst them & unions, theft of fitments from the buses, sub-stations
by the delinquent employee, drug addicts miscreants. The consumers on the other hand resort to theft
of electricity and unauthorized extension. They convert/use the residential premises as commercial
premises without notifying the change of use, thereby cheating the Undertaking to the extent of
difference in residential & commercial tariffs.
The Security Department has been trying to deal with such cases with the existing staff but
was not able to cope up with the problem due to absence of sufficient manpower and hence in the
year 1992, the Vigilance Section was created. The nomenclature of the department was changed to
Security & Vigilance Estt.
