Electricity Duty and exemption from it is on the basis of
the Electricity Duty Act 1958 and also ruling given by the
Electrical Inspection Authority. Total duty is paid to the
Government as arrived at from the total duty billed with
deductions of duty in respect of credit notes and other
adjustments.
8.4.10 Annual Reconciliation Statements:
The Consumers Department reconciles balance as per Ledgers as
on 31st March with the figures of the Accounts Department in
respect of Electric Supply Debtors’ Account. In addition, the
following annual advices are sent to the Chief Accountant.
1) Balance amount in respect of Consumers Deposits.
2) Interest accrued on deposits.
3) Adjustment against Consumers Deposits.
4) Adjustment of Interest on deposits.
5) Balance in respect of Outstanding Credit Interest.
6) Outstanding Credit Interest transferred to Revenue.
7) Deposit Interest Reconciliation.
8) Electricity Duty Reconciliation.
9) Closing Balance as per Outstanding Credit Register.
10) Closing Balance of Suspense Register.
11) Reconciliation Statement of Bank Receivers Excess.
12) Journal Entry regarding recovery of Bad Debts.
13) Reconciliation of Balances with banks authorized to receive
payments.
8.5 Location & Organization:
The Consumers Department is divided into two Zones viz. South
& North and subdivided in to 9 wards based on area of
