4.1.2 SYSTEMWISE DETAILS :
4.1.2.1. Centrally processed systems at E.D.P. Department Backbay
4.1.2.1 Payroll System –

This system was first designed in 1973 when the
processing was done on the IBM 1401 system by
hiring the timings on the IBM 1401 system at
various organisations like TCS, ACC, RCF (earlier
known as The Fertilizer Corporation Of India) etc.
This system was redesigned in COBOL when the
inhouse computer system was installed at the
computer centre of E.D.P. Department in September
1981. The processing of the payroll jobs on this
system was started in October, 1981.
This system is processed monthly for the following
staff :
Officers and – Cycle 1
Administrative Staff
Engineering staff – Cycle 2 for regular employees
Cycle 4 for temporary
employees
Traffic Outdoor staff – Cycle 3
The processing period of this system is from 9 th day
of the month till 24 th /25 th day of the month. The
payment details for all the employees are given to
RBI through floppy for payment to all the employees
on single day through ECS. The common jobs of all
the payments are done in the last week of the same
month.
Inputs– Workout cards, Control Sheets, of new
appointments, transfers, separations ,
various incentive bonus data, amendments
adviced by T.K. Department, Traffic
Administration etc. various recoveries e.g.
P.F. Loan (from PF system), bank loan
instalments, housing loans, house rent,
grains, petrol, income tax instalments
(through STK or income tax file), various
allowances advised by the departments
through their administration heads i.e.
Sr.AOES, Sr.AOTE, Sr. AOT, STC and
