Labour Welfare in its widest connotation is understood
as “a condition of well being, happiness and satisfaction of
the workers and their families in the context of their ‘
Industrial Life’. The Welfare of the industry is closely
connected with the Welfare of those
who work for its progress and prosperity. It is accepted
that Welfare of Labour is Welfare of the Industry”. Thus,
Labour Welfare deals with the physical, mental, emotional
and social well being of the employees at the working place
as well as outside the working place, i.e. in their social life.
The B.E.S. & T. Undertaking has provided various
statutory and non-statutory welfare facilities to its
employees. Various provisions of the laws require the
employer to maintain welfare facilities for their employees.
It is well known fact that the higher efficiency of
employees is obtained by providing better welfare facilities.
