Department, No. BMC/6164/68775 - CL, dated the 25th February, 1966, sanctioning the
Rules :
"In exercise of the powers conferred by Sub - Section (1) and (3) of Section 80B of the
Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act (as amended up to date) and after consultation with the
Brihanmumbai Mahanagar Palika and the Maharashtra Public Service Commission, the
Government of Maharashtra is pleased to make the following Rules, namely :
1. These Rules may be cal1ed the Maharashtra Public Service Commission
(Appointments in the B.E.S. & T. Undertaking) Rules, 1966.
2. In these Rules, unless 'there is anything repugnant to the subject or context
(i) “Appointing Authority" means the B.E.S. & T. Committee
(ii) "General manager" means the General Manager of the B.E.S & T.Undertaking;
(iii) "Secretary to the Commission" means the Secretary to the Maharashtra Public Service
Commission;
(iv) "The Act" means the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act 1888 (Act III of 1888) as
modified from time to time.

3. Recruitment to any of the posts referred to in Section 460 U of the Act may be made
by promotion or by selection or by transfer as the B.E.S. & T. Committee after
considering the recommendation of the General Manager, directs regard being had to
the recruitment rules for the time being in force for such posts.
Provided that :-
The State Government may, in consultation with the Commission, by order published in the
Official Gazette specify any post carrying a minimum monthly salary of Rs. 1,360
(exclusive of allowances) or over as a post which in the opinion of the State Government it is
