ANTI-DISCRIMINATION POLICY<br />

(Rule J.4)<br />

1. In undertaking the organisation and management of the nation’s major professional league, the<br />

League has a duty to set standards and values which will have a beneficial influence on the game<br />

played at other levels. Football belongs to, and should be enjoyed by, everyone equally. The League<br />

shares with the Football Association a commitment to confront and eliminate discrimination,<br />

whether by reason of sex, sexual orientation, race, nationality, ethnic origin, colour, religion or disability.<br />

2. The League is an equal opportunities employer. It is committed to equality of opportunity within<br />

its organisation and to encouraging similar commitment from every other organisation or individual<br />

acting within the game.<br />

3. Equality of opportunity means that in none of its activities will the League discriminate against, or<br />

in any way treat less favourably, any person on grounds of sex, sexual orientation, race, nationality,<br />

ethnic origin, colour, religion or disability. This policy will be applicable to:<br />

• the advertising of jobs<br />

• the selection of candidates for employment or promotion<br />

• job location or working environment<br />

• pay and employment terms and conditions<br />

• internal training and development activities<br />

• external coaching and education activities and awards<br />

• football development activities<br />

4. The League will not tolerate sexual or racially-based harassment or other discriminatory behaviour,<br />

whether physical or verbal, and the Board will ensure that such behaviour is met with appropriate<br />

disciplinary action whenever it occurs.<br />

5. The League supports the Football Association in its commitment to develop a programme of<br />

ongoing training and awareness raising events and activities in order to promote the eradication of<br />

discrimination within football.<br />
