in school history at the LSC meet. Indoor
Mile (5:35.25); 800 (2:31.60); 1500
(5:19.86); 5,000 (19:27.30); 10,000
(42:10.57). High School: Acosta was
a four year letterwinner in track and
two time letterwinner in cross country
at Alice High School. She was also the head cheerleader and played
three years of varsity basketball. She placed 16th in regionals as a junior
and earned all-district, All-South Texas, All-State and Academic All-State
honors as a senior in cross country. In track, she competed at the State
4A Championships in the 4x400-meter relay as a freshman and was
a four-time district champion in the event. She was part of the school
record setting relay team with a time 4:01.19. She set the school record
in the pole vault with a height of 8-6. She posted a career best of 2:24
in the 800 meters as a senior at the regional meet. Personal: Acosta is
the daughter Amador and Elda Acosta and is studying Kinesiology. She
is also a member of the Javelina cross country team.

Bishop HS
High School: Alvarez was a member of
the Bishop High School track, volleyball,
basketball, softball and cross country
teams. She was the 2011 District 31-2A
triple jump champion with a leap of 35-
0. She won the 2010 Regional Qualifiers
meet at Javelina Stadium with a long
jump of 17-8 and a triple jump of 35-8. She was a two-time first team
all-district performer in basketball and earned second team all-district
honors in volleyball. She was a four-time regional qualifier in track and
finished third in the long jump as a senior. She was a member of the
Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Personal: Alvarez is the daugher of
Artemio and Belinda Alvarez and is studying CSDO.

2011: Alvarez became the first All-
American in four years for the program
after finishing as the National Runner-
Up in the high jump. She earned
all-LSC honors for a second straight
year and was named the LSC Field
Athlete of the Year. She garnered First
Team Capital One Academic All-District VI and LSC All-Academic Team
honors. She was named the LSC Field Athlete of the Week on three occasions.
She tied the school record in the javelin and posted the #2 high
jump and #2 pole vault marks in school history. Indoor High Jump (5-5);
Indoor Pole Vault (11-3.75); High Jump (5-8.5); Pole Vault (11-5.75);
Javelin (126-8). 2010: Alvarez was named to the all-LSC team after
scoring 15 points at the conference championships. Indoor High Jump
(5-3); High Jump (5-6); Pole Vault (10-11.75); Javelin (116-4). High
School: Alvarez competed in volleyball and track at Victoria Memorial
HS. She earned first team all-area honors in the high jump and second
team all-area honors in the pole vault. She was named Memorial’s
Female Athlete of the Year. In volleyball she was a two-time all-district
outside hitter and earned all-area honors as a senior. She was on three
District championship track team. She earned TGCA All-Academic team
honors and as a three-time academic all-district honoree. She was a
member of the honor roll and earned the History award. Personal:
Alvarez is the daughter of Sammy and Jeri Alvarez and is studying Pre-
Physical Therapy.

Goliad HS
High School: Bartosch is a sprinterhurdler
from Goliad High School. She
was the 2011 District 30-3A champion in
the 100-meter hurdles and took fourth
place at the Region IV Championships.
She owns a top time of 14.37 in
the hurdles while also earning district
runner-up honors in the 200-meter dash (26.15) and in the triple jump
(35-3). She earned academic all-district honors in track and cross country.
She helped lead the track team to a pair of district championships.
Personal: Bartosch is the daughter of Darryl Bartosch and Sabrena
Fisher and is studying Criminology.

Milton HS
2011: Indoor 60 (8.04); Indoor 200
(27.05); 100 (12.38); 200 (25.76). High
School: Deck was the team MVP at
Milton HS. She holds the school record
in the 100 (11.80) and 200-meter
(24.90) dashes. She was a part of two
district championship relay teams and
has a top 400-meter time of 56.00. Personal: Deck is the daughter of
Steve Brisker and Cynthia Deck and is studying English with a minor in
Psychology.
