He was a regional qualifier in the Economics Essay contest. He is an Eagle Scout. Personal: Garza is the son of Oscar and Nilda Garza and is studying Kinesiology and English. He earned all-OAC honors in the indoor and outdoor shot put. He set the school record in the hammer throw with a toss of 142-6. High School: Garza was a member of the football and track teams at Stony Point HS. He was a two-time all-district honoree in football. As a junior he placed fifth at the Texas Relays and sixth in the state in the shot put. As a senior, he tossed the shot a school record 59-0. He helped lead Barton CC to a team national championship that year. At the outdoor NJCAA national championships he finished third in the discus with a throw of 169-7 and fourth in the hammer with a throw of 163-8. He has personal bests of 180-7 in the discus and 172-7 in the hammer. High School: Griffin was a member of the football and track teams at Van Vleck High School. Personal: Griffin is the son of Pat Johnson and is studying Kinesiology. C . J . G r i g g s Jumps Sophomore • 6-2 • 194 • 1L Cedar Lane, TX Van Vleck HS 2011: Griggs earned NCAA Division II All-America honors in the triple jump during both the indoor and outdoor seasons. He is #4 all-time in the triple jump. Indoor 60 (7.11); Indoor Long Jump (23-11); Indoor Triple Jump (49- 3.75); 100 (10.93); 200 (23.74); Long Jump (23-11.75); Triple Jump (49-9). High School: Griggs was a threeyear letterwinner in track at Van Vleck HS. He was a regional qualifier in the triple jump and long jump as a sophomore. He was a regional champion in the triple jump and regional qualifier in the long jump as a junior. He was the regional champion in the triple jump, 200-meters, 4x100-meter relay and 4x200-meter relay and finished third in the long jump at regionals as a senior. He was the state runner-up in the triple jump and state champion in 4x100-meter relay in 2009. Personal: Griggs is the son of Rodney and Helen Griggs and is studying Sociology. Indoor High Jump (6-4.25); High Jump (6-8.25). 2009: Indoor High Jump (6-4.25); High Jump (6-8.75). High School: Hesseltine competed in Football and Track. He was named Track MVP in 2008, holds the school record in the high jump, won the state in 2008, and got a third place on state in 2007. He was also in the A/B Honor Roll. Personal: Hesseltine is the son of Dean and Tanya Hesseltine. He is majoring in Engineering. R a n d y L i g h t e a r d Sprints Senior • 5-8 • 160 • TR San Antonio, TX Oklahoma City University Previous: Lighteard was part of the 2011 Indoor National Champion 4x400meter relay team at Oklahoma City University that clocked a 3:09.83. He had a season best time of 48.99 in the outdoor 400 meters. High School: Lighteard was a district champion and earned all-region honors at Sam Houston High School. Personal: Lighteard is the son of Farrell Lighteard and is studying Kinesiology with a minor in Health. High School: McCullough was a three-year letterwinner at North Marion High School. He was a member of an 11-2 team that went to the regional semi-finals. He had two interceptions and returned a punt for a touchdown as a senior. He collected 31 tackles and had two interceptions as a junior and had 34 tackles as a sophomore. He was a second-team all-area defensive back.
