Texas A&M-Kingsville Track & Field R o b e r t A r m s t r o n g Jumps/Hurdles Sophomore • 6-2 • 205 • 1L Cuero, TX Cuero HS 2011: 110 Hurdles (15.37); Long Jump (23-6.25). High School: Armstrong played football and track at Cuero HS. In track, he was a member of two Texas 3A state championship teams. He had personal bests of 6-8 in the high jump and 23-2 in the long jump. He was also a member of the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400-meter relay teams. Armstrong played both wide receiver and corner back for the Gobblers. He earned 3A all-state honors at both positions while also earning First Team alldistrict, all-area and all-region honors. He made 63 catches for 1,028 yards and 15 touchdowns as a senior. He led Cuero to back-to-back state semi-final appearances. He was an academic all-district selection. Personal: Armstrong is the son of Deborah Armstrong and is studying Kinesiology with a minor in Business. He is also a member of the Javelina football team. High School: Arredondo was a three-time Regional qualifier in track and two-time Regional qualifier in cross country. He was the most valuable player on the cross country and track teams at H.M. King HS. Personal: Arredondo is the son of Alde Arredondo and Esther Vela and is studying Human Nutrition. He is also on the Javelina cross country team. J e r o m e B r o o k s Sprints Senior • 5-8 • 165 • TR San Antonio, TX Oklahoma City University Previous: Brooks ran track for one season at Oklahoma City University and earned All-American honors in the 4x100 relay. He had season bests of 10.79 in the 100 meters and 22.07 in the 200 meters. High School: Brooks was an all-district performer in the 4x400 meter relay and was second in the district in 400 meters. He had personal bests of a 50.2 in the 400 meters and 22.8 in the 200 meters. High School: Brown played football and track at Victoria Memorial HS. He earned honorable mention All-Area honors in the pole vault as a senior and was named the Male Athlete of the Year in 2009 at VMHS. He was a regional qualifier in the pole vault in 2009. High School: Bryant attended Carter High School. He had personal bests of 10.50 in the 100 meters and M a t t B u s k e r Multi Sophomore • 6-3 • 190 • 1L Corpus Christi, TX Incarnate Word Academy 2011: Decathlon (5,914); 400 (51.74). 2010: Busker red-shirted his first year at Texas A&M-Kingsville. High School: Busker competed in cross country, basketball and track at Incarnate Word Academy. He earned TAPPS all-state cross country honors twice and was a part of three state championship teams. He earned all-South Texas and all-state honors in basketball while leading the team to four straight playoff appearances. In track he was a member of a school record 4x400meter relay team en route to earning all-South Texas honors. He was named the Homecoming King and Most Athletic of his senior class. He was the recipient of the Caspar Wenzel Athletic Scholarship. Personal: Busker is the son of Mark and Annie Busker and is studying Mechanical Engineering.
C a t r e l l B u t l e r Hurdles Junior • 5-10 • 188 • TR Pembroke Pines, FL Iowa Western CC Previous: Butler attended Iowa Western Community College and qualified for the 2011 indoor and outdoor NJCAA National Championships in the 60-meter hurdles and 110-meter hurdles, respectively. He ran a personal best 8.27 in the 60-meter hurdles and 14.54 in the 110-meter hurdles. High School: Butler is a hurdler from Pembroke Pines, FL where he attended Flanagan High School. He had scholastic personal bests of 14.61 in the 110-meter hurdles and 41.61 in the 300-meter hurdles. Personal: Butler is the son of Eugene and Antionette Butler and is studying Computer Science. His twin brother, Jaleal, is also on the track team. High School: Carmona earned 1A All- State honors in cross country in 2007 at Santa Maria HS. He was also a regional qualifier in 2008. Personal: Carmona is the son of Esperanza Carmona and is studying Environmental Soil Science. He is a member of the Javelina cross country team. J . D . C u e l l a r Sprints Sophomore • 5-7 • 145 • SQ Weslaco, TX Weslaco East HS 2011: 400 (51.54). 2010: Cuellar red-shirted his first year at Texas A&M- Kingsville. High School: Cuellar competed in football, track and powerlifting at Weslaco East HS. He was the track team’s MVP and set school records in the 400-meter dash, 4x100-meter relay, 4x200-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay. He was a three-time regional qualifier. He was a three-time all-district performer in football and also earned academic all-state honorable mention honors. He was part of a state championship team in powerlifting. Personal: Cuellar is the son of Armando and Nelda Cuellar and is studying Range and Wildlife Management. His father played football at Monterrey Tech in Mexico. K i y a D a n d e n a Distance Senior • 5-11 • 130 • 3L Houston, TX Bellaire HS Dandena earned NCAA Division II All-America was named the Lone Star Conference Cross Country Runner of the Year as a senior. He is a two-time All-LSC Cross Country runner. 2011: Dandena is #8 all-time in the 10,000 meters. He was named to the All-LSC team after finishing second in both the 5,000 and 10,000 meters at the conference championship meet. During the indoor season, he broke his own school records in the 3,000 and 5,000 meters at the Lafeyette Rider Invitational. High School: Dandena competed in Cross Country and Track at Bellaire. He was named team MVP. Personal: Dandena is the son of Mulissa Gulti and he is majoring in Psychology. He was born in Ethiopia. S t o n e y D a v i s Throws Sophomore • 6-0 • 225 • 1L Bay City, TX Bay City HS 2011: Davis is #9 all-time in the hammer throw. Shot Put (48-11.75); Hammer (152-9). 2010: Davis red-shirted his first year at Texas A&M-Kingsville. High School: Davis competed in football and track at Bay City HS. He was the team MVP in track and finished in fifth place in the state meet in the shot put. He was an all-district and all-area defensive end in football. Personal: Davis is the son of Paula Franklin and is studying Industrial Technology with a minor in Business. His best events were the 110 hurdles, long jump, javelin and 1,500 meters. High School: Engel was a member of three division title track teams at Edison HS.
