Description: A slender palm. The flower stalk is 30-40
cm long and 20-30 cm wide. It has many thickly
crowded twigs. The female flowers are at the base of
the flower cluster and many male flowers surround it.
The many fruit are clustered around the stalk and the
bunch is 15-25 cm long.
Distribution: A tropical plant. It occurs in New Britain
in Papua New Guinea.
Cultivation: Palms are grown from seed.
Production:
Use: The nuts or seeds are used as a substitute for betel nut.
