This family occurs in temperate parts <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> North<br />

<strong>and</strong> South America but not <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> West Indies. The<br />

larvae usually feed in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> male c<strong>on</strong>es <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>ifers.<br />

Larvae <strong>and</strong> adults <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> this family usually occur<br />

<strong>on</strong> or in rotten wood <strong>and</strong> fungal fruiting bodies.<br />
