Adults occur <strong>on</strong> flowers <strong>and</strong> feed <strong>on</strong> pollen,<br />

spores or o<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r insects. Both adults <strong>and</strong> larvae may<br />

be very substrate specific, occurring <strong>on</strong> coastal s<strong>and</strong><br />

dunes, tidal flats, or <strong>on</strong> specific types <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> rock substrates<br />

such as s<strong>and</strong>st<strong>on</strong>es, igneous, <strong>and</strong> calcareous<br />

rock outcrops. Larvae are predators <strong>and</strong> may<br />

occur in litter, soil, or under bark or rocks.<br />
