FORGIVEN
Today's liturgy continues the message of forgiveness and reconciliation that we heard last week. The Church seems to be
doing its utmost to deliver one simple message: "Your sins are forgiven!" What good news this is!
Isaiah declares that God's saving action on our behalf is not something trapped in the past, but here and now. Paul urges
us to recognize that true life is not "won" by following laws, however strictly, but is a free gift of God. Thus, our focus must be on
the future, not on past misdeeds. Our eyes must be on the prize of life forever with God.
In the Gospel, Jesus is challenged to demonstrate that he is a law-keeper, but he knows that this is a trap. If he counsels
mercy, he will be declared an opponent of the law. If he follows the law and condones its punishment, he will be denounced as an
inciter to murder. Jesus decides to do neither. Instead, he turns the tables and invites the crowd to forgo "legality" for the sake of
forgiveness and reconciliation.

EASTER EGG/FOOD BLESSING
Please join us in the Church on Holy Saturday,
March 30th at 11:00 am to have any food to be used for
your Easter Meal or Easter Eggs blessed. There will be
a table in the back of Church by the Grotto. Everyone is

YOUTH RETREAT
The OLL Parish Community is asked to keep the young
people of our parish in your prayers as they prepare to receive
the Sacrament of Confirmation on April 27th. As part
of their preparation, our Confirmation Candidates will be
attending a Retreat on Sunday, March 24. But all teens of
the Parish are invited to participate.
Our Retreat Leaders are from NET Ministries. Each
year, NET Ministries sends over 130 young adults across the
country in teams of 8-12 to proclaim the Gospel to Catholic
youth. The NET teams will share their love of Christ and
the Church with over 60,000 youth from September to May.
They come from a wide variety of states and countries.
NET Ministries team members have been trained in the
teachings of the Catholic Church and formed as brothers and
sisters in Christ, a quality young people consistently notice
and to which they are attracted. To find out more about this
special group go to: NETUSA.org.
All OLL high school youth are invited to attend this retreat.

It’s almost that time again; time to prepare the church
environment for the busiest, most demanding and holy time
of the Liturgical year. Anyone who would like to help during
Holy Week (Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday,
Holy Saturday and Easter Vigil) will be most welcome and
greatly appreciated. Note: Palm Sunday and Pentecost are
Sundays so the date for preparation are the Saturdays (the
day before). The Triduum are weekdays.
Holy Week
Palm Sunday: Decorating will take place Saturday,
March 23 9:00am to 12 noon in the Church and Hospitality
Patio. Materials needed: (if possible) green branches (ie:
Olive branches and/or Pussy Willow branches to be used to
decorate and to carry in procession; BASIC TOOL KIT/
clippers/gloves.
Holy Thursday: March 28 9:00am to 2:00pm in the
Church/Hospitality Patio/Auditorium. Tasks: Church: strip,
put away Lenten Décor; replace with colorful fabric. Patio:
Assemble lumanaria. Auditorium: assemble Altar of Repose
(table, covering; 4 candle stands; arrange chairs and kneelers
in series of semi-circles with large potted plants between.
Good Friday: March 29 9:00am to 11:00am Church/Patio/
Auditorium. Tasks: Disassemble Altar of Repose; put away
fabric and other materials from Holy Thursday. Bring large
wooden cross into church and drape with deep red fabric.
Holy Saturday: March 30 9:00am to 3:00pm. Church/
Patio Tasks: Many and varied. Stay tuned for more details.

ARE YOU BEING CALLED TO BECOME A
DEACON?
The Diaconate Formation Office will be hosting an information
meeting for all men who are interested in finding out
more about becoming a permanent deacon in the Archdiocese
of Los Angeles. Members of the Archdiocesan Deaconate
Formation Office will be present to explain the role of
the deacon in the Church, to explain the Diaconate Formation
Program, and to answer any questions that participants
might have. Men must be between the ages of 30 and 60
years to enter the program. It is important for men who are
married to attend with their wives. The information meeting
will be held Sunday, April 14 from 2-4pm at St. Maximilian
Kolbe, located at 5801 Kanan Rd, Westlake Village 91362.

the time on the news about children that are missing or children
that are bullied, or children that are abused and mistreated.
We need to see and hear what is going on with our
children. Listen to them. Children are most important, so
keep your eyes, ears and hearts open at all times.

para atender, al contrario es precisamente para los que
aun no han vivido un cursillo. Nos encantaría poder
compartir esa noche con ustedes. Los esperamos.

Ya casi llegamos a ese tiempo de nuevo, la época de
arreglar la iglesia para que este lista para el tiempo
mas ocupado, el tiempo mas apremiante y sagrado del
año litúrgico. Cualquier persona que desee ayudar
durante la Semana Santa (Domingo de Ramos,
Jueves Santo, Viernes Santo, Sábado Santo y
Domingo de Resurrección) será bien acogida y
grandemente apreciada. Nota: Para los Domingos de
Pascua y de Pentecostés las preparaciones se hacen
los sábados anteriores. Para el Triduo, la preparación
es durante los días de semana.
Semana Santa
Domingo de Ramos: la decoración será el sábado 23
de marzo de 9:00 a.m. a 12:00 p.m. en la iglesia y el
patio de hospitalidad. Lo que se necesita: ramas
verdes (ramas de olivo y o ramas de sauce peludo)
para decorar y llevar en la procesión; también tijeras
de jardín, guantes y cualquier otra herramienta que
pueda usarse en la preparación.
Jueves Santo: 28 de Marzo de 9:00 a 2:00 p.m. en la
iglesia, el patio de hospitalidad y Auditorio. Tareas:
Iglesia: Sacar y guardar las decoraciones de
cuaresma; remplazarlas con tela colorida apropiada.
Patio de hospitalidad: ensamblar las luces; Auditorio:
erigir el altar de reposo (mesa, mantel, cuatro
candelabros, acomodar las sillas y reclinatorios en
semicírculos en medio de plantas en maceteros
grandes. Viernes Santo: 29 de Marzo de 9:00 a
11:00 a.m. en la iglesia, el patio de hospitalidad y
Auditorio.
Tareas: Desarmar el altar de reposo; guardar la tela
colorida y otros materiales que fueron usados el
Jueves Santo. Traer la cruz de madera grande y
envolverla con tela de color rojo fuerte.
Sábado Santo: 30 de Marzo de 9:00 a.m. a 3:00 p.m.
en la iglesia y el patio de hospitalidad. Tareas: Muchas
y variadas. Manténganse alerta para mas detalles.
Flores de Pascua
Nos parece mentira que estemos hablando de las
Flores de Pascua pero ya esta a la vuelta de la
esquina. Tendremos un sobre de donaciones para la
Pascua que les llegara por correo en el mes de marzo.
Además tendremos sobres en las bancas para
donaciones de flores. También estamos pensando que
seria bueno si pudieran donar flores para la pascua
como Lirios u otro tipo de flores. Necesitan recortar los
gastos pero también queremos que los feligreses
formen parte de la celebración en OLL de la pascua.

TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE
Artesanos preparan alfombras de flores y plumas
de Quetzal en Guatemala para las fiestas de esta
semana santa. Grupos de fieles practican su papel de
personaje judío o romano para los vía crucis en
México, Texas, Chicago y tantos lugares más.
Fraternidades penitenciales están preparándose
espiritualmente para cargar con imágenes sagradas y
pesadas por calles españolas. Muchos más están
preparando sus maletas para irse a la playa o las
montañas donde, probablemente, nunca recordaran el
nombre de Jesús.
Estos últimos se perderán las liturgias más

movimiento desde afuera de la Iglesia hasta adentro.
Están llenos de símbolos que nos llaman a la verdad
de la existencia cristiana y humana: somos personas
paradójicas. Comenzamos entre los hosannas del
Domingo de Ramos, pasamos por las dolorosas
imágenes del Viernes Santo y terminamos entre juegos
de oscuridad, fuego y agua en la Vigilia Pascual.
Muchas veces honramos al Señor y tantas veces lo
negamos, pero él nunca deja de llamarnos. En fin nos
recuerda que la condición humana es sagrada y
profana a la vez.

Feria del Libro de Primavera de OLL este
Domingo
Supla a sus niños esta primavera del 2013 con libros
para leer. La escuela de OLL llevara a cabo su feria
del libro a partir de hoy 17 de marzo en el patio de
hospitalidad, antes de después de las misas, de las
7:00 a.m. a 3:00 p.m. También durante la semana, del
18 al 22 de marzo, pueden venir a la biblioteca de la
escuela de 8:00 a.m. a 4:00 p.m.
Vengan a mirar y a apoyar a la biblioteca de la escuela
