EMS Ship Management chooses Pres-Vac
when it comes to quality
After receiving structural damage during loading operations, Chemical Tanker
Sichem Defiance was in need of a new set of Pressure Vacuum valves for it´s cargo
tanks. Initial delivery time was estimated to be 6 weeks. But the customer, EMS,
wanted the valves delivered as quickly as possible, so we pushed the order through
production and were able to deliver the valves in just 4 weeks. EMS has later
expressed their satisfaction with how quickly we were able to respond to their
needs.
An order has also been placed to replace the Pressure Vacuum valves on two other
vessels under their management, as they feel our valves are more reliable.
“When it comes to reliable and top of the line Pressure Vacuum valves there
is really only one company to go to: Pres-Vac”, says the EMS Ship Support Sr.

Our notified body has confirmed that the use of non-OEM spare parts when
overhauling an MED approved Valve will result in the loss of the MED certification

This reinforces our position that only OEM spare parts should be used when
overhauling our valves. Not only to ensure the continued quality of the valves
performance, but also to maintain the valves MED certification.

Agent Profile: Achtizm, Singapore
On his recent visit to Pres-Vac, Mr Alvin Chua, Managing
Director of Achtizm, talked to us about his company and
his relationship to Pres-Vac. He became the Pres-Vac
Agent in Singapore after founding Achtizm in 2000 and the
partnership soon led to Pres-Vac’s first FPSO order.
We asked him what Achtizm means and he explained that
it is a combination of the German word for “8” (he
represented 8 German companies at the time) and the fact
that 8 is a lucky number in Chinese culture. 8 also
represents the infinity loop, thus Achtizm can be
interpreted as infinite luck and prosperity.
Apart from representing well-known marine equipment
manufacturers like Pres-Vac, Achtizm is also a Ship
Broker, a Ship Design Consultancy, and does Project
Management. Achtizm has offices in Singapore and
Shanghai.
Alvin is a Naval Architect who graduated with honors from
Glasgow University, with a specialisation in FPSO’s.

MarED is the co-ordination group for the Notified
Bodies assigned by the EU Member States to carry
out the conformity assessment procedures referred
to in the Marine Equipment Directive (COUNCIL
DIRECTIVE 96/98/EC on Marine Equipment).
The MarED Website contains information about the
MarED Group, Notified Bodies and the Marine
Equipment Directive.

Thomas Billeschou-Hansen, the Business Unit

recently visited our Agents and Distributors in
Singapore, Shanghai, New York and Rio De
Janeiro to introduce them to the technology we
use in our Nitrogen systems.
At each location the Agent received an
overview and introduction to the products and
services offered, followed by a meeting with
local key accounts to highlight the performance

Thomas’ visit generated a lot of interest and the
response from our Agents and customers in every
location was very encouraging.
Based on these visits, Thomas is confident that sales
of our Nitrogen Systems will grow steadily in those
markets.
We participated in the latest sea trail of the 8000 dwt chemical carrier Alice Theresa, built by Mingde Shipyard
for the Danish ship owner Herning shipping. The vessel is equipped with Pres-Vac cargo pumps of the type EL-
Chem 150-1/408, Pres-Vac ballast pumps and portable pump. This is the 7th vessel delivered to Herning
shipping equipped with Pres-Vac pumps.
Pres-Vac has delivered over 200 deep well cargo pumps outfitted with our unique magnetic drive concept which

ensures 100% separation between lubrication and cargo. All pumps are electrically driven and share the ballast
pumps’s power supply, making them both cost efficient and easy to install and operate.

Posedonia 2010
Posidonia, the premier gathering of the Greek
shipping industry, took place again this year from
June 07-11 and attracted a record 1,859
exhibitors and 18,000 visitors from 87 nations.
As always, of our Greek partner Oceanking had
an excellent exhibition stand. Our Jens Reimer
was there to represent Pres-Vac and on his
return, he reported that there was an upbeat
mood and based on his discussions with ship
owners and equipment suppliers, it seems that
the long-awaited upturn is underway. Certainly
from our perspective, it was a good exhibition -
Jens had many "quite serious and advanced"
discussions with leading shipowners and we
have agreed some new orders.
