What is annual
gas servicing?
It is a legal requirement to service your gas
appliances once a year. The cost of this service
is itemised on your rent account notice, which
is sent out once a year.
It is important you are at home when we visit to do your
annual gas servicing appointment.
When will my gas
safety inspection be?
We will send you a letter with details of the date and
time of your appointment. If this date and time is not
convenient, you must contact us to re-arrange.

Why is it important?
Every year around 20 people die from carbon
monoxide poisoning caused by faulty gas appliances
and fl ues, which have not been properly installed
or maintained. Many other people are also taken ill
because of their gas appliances.
When gas does not burn properly carbon monoxide
is produced, which is poisonous.
You can’t see it
You can’t taste it
You can’t even smell it
But carbon monoxide can kill without warning in just
a matter of hours.
You are at risk of carbon monoxide poisoning if you
do not have your appliances checked and maintained
at your annual gas servicing appointment.
For further information on the symptoms of carbon
monoxide poisoning and the dangers, please visit the
Health and Safety Executive’s website, www.hse.gov.uk.
Your annual gas service check also makes sure your gas
appliances are working effi ciently and this can save you
money on your heating bills.

You could be a winner!
Keeping your appointment will not only give you piece
of mind, you will also be entered into a prize draw.
The draw will be made every three months and a winner
will be picked at random. The winner will get £100
of Victoria Centre vouchers.

What if I miss
an appointment?
If you miss an appointment we will contact you again
to rearrange.
Gas servicing is for the safety of you and your family.
If you do not allow us into your home to carry out your
annual gas safety check, we will request an injunction
from court to gain access.
You will be recharged costs for this, which could
be up to £1,000.

What happens
if my boiler needs repairs?
You should ring the Repairs Call Centre
on 0115 915 2222. The repair will be classed as either
urgent or non urgent, depending on what type of work
needs to be carried out.

• Open windows
to ventilate
the area
