Moscow Design Week 2011<br />
Lectures and master-classes under the project "People of Design" were delivered<br />
at the Faculty of Journalism of Lomonosov Moscow State University. The conference<br />
was attended by Li Edelkoort, Giulio Cappellini, Ingo Maurer, Maria Sebregondi,<br />
Jacopo Foggini, Gil<strong>da</strong> Boyardi, Sergey Serov and president of Moscow Design Week<br />
Organizing Committee Alexander Fedotov; moderator of the event was Elena Vartanova,<br />
the dean of the Faculty of Journalism of Lomonosov Moscow State University.<br />
Trade and Economic Department of the Spanish Embassy in Moscow supported<br />
workshops of talented Spanish designers: Ramon Esteve, Cutu Masuelos<br />
and Gabriele Squiavon; and the government of Kingdom of Netherlands engaged<br />
RuArts Gallery for project "Dutch Project", curator of which was Maarten Baas.<br />
"Press Village MDW 2011" in Krasny Oktyabr Factory became a unique space,<br />
which integrated exhibition stands of Russian design periodicals: Interni, OBJEKT©RUS-<br />
SIA and Elle Decoration. Installation of OBJEKT©RUSSIA was designed by Juliy<br />
Borisov and Eugene Shetinkin from bureau "UNK project", and concept of installation<br />
of the Russian magazine "Interni" was presented by Arseniy Leonovich (architectural<br />
bureau "Panakom").<br />
Project "Design Points" decorated cafes, restaurants and other public spaces<br />
of Moscow with mini-installations and art-objects. Animalistic lamps by Anna Lexina<br />
and Rostislav Nikolaev (Funarchmodelling) were placed in cafe "Biscotti"; "Chocolate<br />
tower # 52", specially created by Nelli Konstantinova for Moscow Design Week 2011,<br />
appeared at restaurant "Bolshoi". Rotating lamp "Wheel", creating the illusion of movement<br />
and demonstrating a series of views opening from train windows, was presented<br />
by Olga Suhanova, student of British Higher School of Art and Design, in<br />
caf? "Tchaikovsky"; another light installation by "Yunaya Bureau" was located at design<br />
factory "Flakon". Faculty of Journalism of Lomonosov Moscow State University featured<br />
two design objects at a time: "Long Drink" cloud of cocktail straws by Gaya<br />
Asaturova and shiny mannequins "Antiglamor" by sisters Angelina and Polina Askeri.<br />
<strong>Magazine</strong> "Elle Decoration" hosted an open-door <strong>da</strong>y, offering master classes<br />
by leading international design schools and detailed information on overseas design<br />
education opportunities.<br />
Exhibition Center "Crocus Expo" hosted exposition of young Italian designers<br />
Michele Mantovani and Alessandra Castelli and exposition "Case of Wonders" by<br />
one of the most brilliant Russian designers, IF Product Design Award winner Dima<br />
Loginov.<br />
"NAYADA" company announced launching of international competition "NAYA-<br />
DA ArchiChallenge Object2012" for individual authors, companies and creative groups<br />
in three nominations: "Office Furniture", "Furniture for Co-working" and "Decorative<br />
Surface".<br />
Especially for Range Rover Evoque, Jacopo Foggini created a unique installation,<br />
dedicated to launching of a new offroadster in Russia. The project was presented<br />
in Gorky Park and caused immense interest of the local public.<br />
Exhibitions, installations, lectures, master classes, presentations, business<br />
meetings with market professionals and other events organized under MDW 2011<br />
not only continued development of cultural, economic and professional environment<br />
of design in Russia, but also demonstrated the best samples of local design to the<br />
European trendsetters and buyers.<br />
