Rehabilitation of Uplistsikhe
Second stage rehabilitation works are underway in
Uplistsikhe museum-reserve. This year rehabilitation of the
cave complex covers three directions - monument protection,
construction of tourist infrastructure and reconstruction
of museum facility.
Realization of the project is based on technical documentation
developed by Dmark Ltd.; the process utilizes high
quality construction and facing materials in accordance with
project specification. Special attention is paid to variety, quality
and moisture content of wood used in construction.
Implementation of the plan developed for year 2012
started with reconstruction of Uplistsikhe Museum - repair
of museum water supply, sanitation, air conditioning / ventilation
systems and mounting of electrical wiring.
A shaded pavilion will be built close to the conference
hall; the fortification wall located near the archaeological roof

will be reinforced, damaged roofing of remains of historical
constructions and the bakery will be replaced.
In the tunnel and at the entrance of the excursion route
additional staircases and pedestrian paths will be arranged
for the safety of tourists. Outdoor lighting system will be installed
for added comfort of the visitors.
The facility will be equipped with an irrigation system,
benches, information boards and trash bins.
