he had become a Christian s<strong>in</strong>ce <strong>the</strong>n. {I delivered unto Satan}<br />

(\pared•ka t•i Satan•i\). See this very idiom (\paradounai t•i<br />

Satan•i\) <strong>in</strong> 1Co 5:5. It is a severe discipl<strong>in</strong>e of apostolic<br />

authority, apparently exclusion and more than mere abandonment<br />

(1Th 2:18; 1Co 5:11; 2Co 2:11), though it is an obscure matter.<br />

{That <strong>the</strong>y might be taught not to blaspheme} (\h<strong>in</strong>a paideuth•s<strong>in</strong><br />

m• blasph•me<strong>in</strong>\). Purpose clause with \h<strong>in</strong>a\ and first aorist<br />

passive subjunctive of \paideu•\. For this use of this common<br />

late verb, see 1Co 11:32; 2Co 6:9.<br />
