Probably <strong>the</strong> correct text (Aleph D L) and not \aparch•n\ (first<br />

fruits, B G P), though here alone <strong>in</strong> Paul's writ<strong>in</strong>gs and a hard<br />

read<strong>in</strong>g, <strong>the</strong> eternal choice or purpose of God (1Co 2:7; Eph 1:4;<br />

2Ti 1:9), while \aparch•n\ is a favourite idea with Paul (1Co<br />
