Configuration Functions Internal/External Sampling Rate Base Address No. Boards DSP Boards Processors IO Boards ADAT Boards IO Channels ↓ To set the name of a channel THE SYSTEM TOOLS The system sampling clock source can be selected from either the internal system clock, or an external clock derived from a digital input source. For an external clock to be selected the system must have the Huron ADAT card positioned in slot 0 or digital inputs on channels 15 and 16. No DSP resources can be in use while the switch is being made. The current sampling rate is displayed. If an external clock is selected, the clock source must be stable when the external selection is made. This frequency is assumed to never change after external is selected. The physical memory address in the PC where the Lake hardware resides. The total number of Lake boards installed in the system. The total number of DSP boards installed in the system. The total number of DSP processors installed in the system. The total number of Input/Output (I/O) boards installed in the system. The total number of Huron ADAT boards installed in the system. The total number of physical I/O channels in the system. The left side of the configuration window contains a listbox displaying the names of all the physical Input and Output channels. The first time VRack is run these names will be set to the factory defaults. The Scrollbar to the right of the listbox can be used to scroll through this list. The names of the channels may be set by the user. • Double click on the channel name which is to be changed. The following window appears: Figure 10 — Channel Name Setting HURON TECHNICAL MANUAL PAGE 46
Tip: Channel Names are saved along with workspaces (*.WSP) and will be restored when a workspace is reloaded. Configuration ↓ To set VRack to always on top ↓ To restore VRack’s normal - behaviour Launching Tools ↓ To launch an application or DSP tool Note: It is possible to have more than one instance of a particular tool in the VRack at a time, (eg. the Convolver). If an attempt is made to run more than one copy of a program which does not allow multiple instances (eg. the Patch Bay), VRack will not load the program into the VRack. THE SYSTEM TOOLS • Type a new name into the Name field. Pressing the OK button will save the new name. — or — Pressing Cancel will cancel the name change. Once a channel has been assigned a name, all software will show the new name of that channel. The appropriate naming of channels mapped to physical input and output devices makes the identification of specific channels or devices within DSP applications simpler. • After setting channel names, pressing the OK button in the Configure Window will keep any new channel names. Pressing Cancel will restore all channel names to their previous settings. The VRack can be configured to always be at the forefront of the desktop. From the VRack Menu. 1. Select the Options menu. 2. Click Always on top. • Repeat the menu selections shown above. The VRack is used to start all applications or DSP tools. 1. Select New from the Rack menu. 2. Select the tool you require from the set of tool groups which appear in the drop down menu. The selected tool will be placed into the VRack interface, where it can be accessed by a single click.
