Operation Starting ↓ To start the VRack tool Figure 8 — The VRack Interface THE SYSTEM TOOLS The VRack tool is started from the Windows 2000 Start Menu. 1. From the Start Menu select <strong>Huron</strong> 3.2. 2. Click on VRack. After the splash screen appears, the VRack will start. At the top of the VRack is the Rack Menu. This menu is used to select configurations, set various user options and exit the VRack. The menu is also used for putting new rack units into the VRack itself. Menu Item Contains File Options for saving, loading and naming VRack workspace configurations. Options Review the hardware configuration, and adjust the properties of the VRack. New Loads the virtual rack modules into the VRack. In the centre of the VRack are the Rack Spaces. When a DSP software or engineering application is launched, an icon representing the program will fill one of the spaces, these icons are known as Rack Panels. Each rack panel describes an application using a word and a symbol. These word/symbol associations are used throughout the DSP tool suites to allow quick visual identification of programs and their function. Checking Configuration ↓ To check configuration THE SYSTEM TOOLS LED. This LED is off when the DSP program is hidden but running off-screen, and set to bright green when the DSP program window is displayed on the screen. There are an unlimited number of rack spaces in the VRack. If many DSP programs are launched the VRack display space may become full. Once the on screen portion of the VRack is full, all subsequently launched program panels are placed underneath those shown in the VRack. To access these panels use the Rack Space Scrollbar to bring the unseen portion of the VRack into view. The DSP Meter at the bottom of the VRack provides a visual indication of the number of DSPs initialised by the software. The meter describes what proportion of the DSP processors in the system are in use. To the right of this ratio is a graphical meter providing a proportional view of DSP usage. The VRack may be used to review what Lake hardware is installed in the system. From the VRack Menu. 1. Select Options. 2. Select Configure.
