↓ Connecting ADAT I/O Adding Additional I/O Cards INTRODUCTION TO THE HURON Each ADAT connection on the Huron ADAT I/O card (shown in Figure 3) carries 8 channels of digital audio data via optical TOSLINK connectors. When viewing the Huron from the rear, the first (top), third and fifth connectors are for audio inputs 1- 8, 9-16, and 17-24 respectively, and the second, fourth and sixth (bottom) connectors are for audio outputs 1-8, 9-16, and 17-24 respectively. If a second I/O carrier card is installed in the system of Figure 7 its channels would be numbered from 17 to 32. To determine which physical patch panel inputs and outputs belong to those shown in the configuration window, the configuration numbers should be converted to modulo 16. For further information regarding the pin outs of the patch panel connectors see Huron Hardware Specifications. HURON TECHNICAL MANUAL PAGE 36

Huron System Tools Huron Simulation Tools Huron Engineering Tools The Huron Software Components Huron software is distributed in the following packages. The Huron System Tools package forms the basis of the Huron system software. Central to the System Tools is the virtual rack or VRack. The VRack provides a standard interface through which users are able to load various signal processing applications. The System Tools also include a Patch Bay for connecting application modules and physical inputs and outputs, and an Input Output Manager for controlling gain and the configuration of hardware. Lake Technology’s simulation tools are designed for use in audio simulations. Designed to complement Virtual Reality applications, the simulation tools can be chosen for either arrays of speakers or headphones. Tools such as Space Array and Binscape are provided as an interface through which sound sources and virtual Soundscapes may be controlled via TCP/IP. Additional tools provide access to sound playback and effects such as speaker panning. The Huron Engineering Tools are designed for audio research purposes. Applications include: a Convolver which allows the use of long low latency Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filters; a Measurement tool which provides a means of recording the impulse response of linear systems (such as audio processors and large acoustic spaces); and a set of tools for plotting generating and formatting data files in the SIM file format used by all Lake software.
