Huron Hardware Components The Huron Hardware The Huron is a stand-alone audio workstation which consists of the following components: • Chassis: The Huron Workstation comes in a chassis painted to specification. The chassis contains a high quality industrial power supply, cooling fans with filters, a 3.5 inch floppy disk drive, a CD-ROM drive and hard disk drives ordered to the user’s specification. • Huron Backplane: The standard Huron backplane contains four PCI bus connectors, seven ISA bus connectors, a dual PCI-ISA edge connector and seven 256 channel Huron bus connectors. The Huron 20 backplane consists of sixteen 16 bit ISA bus connectors, two 32 bit PCI connectors, a Dual PCI-ISA edge connector and sixteen 256 channel Huron bus connectors. • Single Board IBM PC Compatible Computer with Embedded Video and an Ethernet Network Card, supporting RJ-45 and Coaxial BNC connectors. The Huron also consists of a user specified number of: • DSP Cards: The Lake Technology Card contains four Motorola® 56002 DSP processors, and Lake proprietary circuitry. • ADAT I/O cards: The ADAT I/O card has three ADAT optical input and output connectors providing a total of 24 channels of digital I/O. • I/O carrier cards: The I/O carrier card has connectors to support up to 8 plug-in modules. It interfaces the I/O modules to the Huron bus. • 16 bit dual channel A/D Module. • 18 bit dual channel D/A Module. • AES/EBU Synchronous Digital Input Module. • AES/EBU Asynchronous Digital Input Module. • AES/EBU Digital Output Module. • 16 channel Patch Panel. • RME Hammerfall card for WavePlayer-2. This card provides 24 channels of ADAT optical I/O for interfacing with Huron ADAT I/O cards and other third party digital audio equipment. HURON TECHNICAL MANUAL PAGE 27
