Optimising System Performance ↓ Achieving optimum system perfomance ↓ Note: Audio stuttering occurs when the system processor is not fast enough to keep up with audio processing demands. Summary OTHER SIMULATION TOOLS • Use only .WAV audio files that have the same sample rate as the master clock. While WavePlayer-2 can playback audio files of other sample rates, CPU intensive calculations are required that can greatly reduce system performance. • Keep the number of channels that receive pitch-bend messages to a minimum. Pitch-bend messages require CPU intensive calculations and can reduce system performance. • Use the maximum buffer size with the longest system latency. This will greatly reduce the load on the processor. If the above optimisation tips have been followed and audio stuttering still occurs, reduce the number of simultaneous voices or upgrade to a faster Pentium processor. • WavePlayer-2 allows the loading and playback of .WAV format audio files. • The WavePlayer-2 is controlled by Socket with SNAP commands. • The WavePlayer-2 can play up to 24 simultaneous output channels using the system processor. • Audio generated by the WavePlayer-2 is accessed via the ADAT inputs in the Huron Patchbay. Note: The Waveplayer has now been superseded by Waveplayer-2 Features Operation The WavePlayer The WavePlayer plays back sampled audio files through a Huron system. These audio samples are stored in the DSP board’s memory, The WavePlayer can store up to 2 megasamples of audio data. Each DSP will playback up to 8 channels or “voices” simultaneously, with the upper limit on voices determined by the number of DSP cards in the system. The WavePlayer provides: • Up to eight voices per DSP. • Playback of waves with sample rates up to 48kHz. • Facilities for multiple wave files, up to a total of 2097150 samples.
