successfully obtained their sports predicate in driving. Sjaantje is
the first to achieve this title in North America.
DO You Have a Bill of Sale?
A Few Things to Think About When Purchasing a Friesian
May times the FHANA office will get calls and questions regarding
transfers of ownerships where a person is buying a horse and wants
the horse listed in their name, but the previous owner, or several,
never transferred the horse into their names. In some cases, the new
owner has the laminated paper, in other cases they do not. The
office will ask for copies of as many bills of sale as the new owner
can gather just so the office has an ownership paper trail. All prices

can be blacked out, we do not care about that information we are
basically looking for each previous owner's signature.
So what happens if there is no bill of sale? Even if there is just one
skipped transfer and no bill of sale, there can be a problem. What if
the current owner of record at FHANA has passed away or moved and
cannot be located and the buyer paid in cash? Unfortunately we have
had situations where this is the case and people have ended up with
beautiful horses and no papers. The buyer has no proof they
purchased the horse.
Also, people have gone through the transfer process without a
problem, and assume that the FPS/FHANA registration paper is proof
that they paid for the horse. Not so! FHANA Rules and Regulations
4.1.3 state:
The Registration Certificate is strictly a statement that a specific
horse has a recognized pedigree and the privilege of being entered in
the official worldwide registry for the Friesian horse. It has no
specific rights or privileges in conjunction with it and is not, in itself,
a proof of ownership; Buyers should obtain a properly executed Bill of
Sale from the Sellers for this purpose. The Registration Certificate is
not the property of the horse owner and can be withdrawn by the FPS
or the FHANA for justifiable cause. The certificate must be returned
to the FHANA upon the death of the horse.
The most important thing to remember is, when buying a horse, make
sure you have a good bill of sale. It can be as complex or as basic as
the buyer and seller want it to be. There are examples and blank bills
of sale online to make your life easier.
Also, make sure you put your paperwork and registration papers in a
safe place. There have been many times where people had the bill of
sale/transfer of ownership form but just do not know where it is....it
may have been thrown out with the mail. Then again you are back to
hunting down previous owners for signatures and anything else that
you are missing or going through the duplicate paper process because
you did not realize the registration paper was in the stack of trash.

2012 IBOP CUP
Dream Gait Friesians and Iron Spring Farm to sponsor 2012 IBOP CUP.
The IBOP Cup is an award that was established in 2011 and is
available to all participants who enter the IBOP in either driving or
under saddle. The requirements are as follow:

Scores and placing will be determined by the results of the
IBOP scores held at various Keuring sites.
Ribbons will be given to the first 2 places at each location.
Top 5 horses in North America with scores over 70 will be
mailed a Dream Gait Friesian Driving Cup Cooler.
The North American Champion (the highest IBOP Score,
Driving) will receive $500
The North American Reserve Champion (the second highest
IBOP
Score, Driving) will receive $250
Iron Spring Farm IBOP Cup Under Saddle Test
All individuals who enter the IBOP under saddle test are
automatically entered into the Iron Spring Farm IBOP Under
Saddle Cup.
Scores and placing will be determined by the results of the
IBOP scores held at the various Keuring sites.

mailed an Iron Spring Farm Dressage Cup Cooler

Friesian Magazine "Keuring" Issue
Attention all Advertisers and Chapter
Representatives!!!
FHANA will publish a special edition Friesian magazine in late
November, 2012. This issue will be have all of the 2012 Keuring
results listed for all members to review. The Results will be listed
specifically by site, and will also have sorted details by sire
available. This will be an issue you won't want to miss as you start
thinking about who you want to breed to in 2013.
If you are interested in advertising, please contact the FHANA
office. Normal advertising rates will apply. Currently all prime
locations are still available.
All Keuring results and Chapter news that members would like to
submit for this issue will need to be submitted no later than Oct. 8th,
2012 in order to be included in this "special" issue.

2013 FHANA Annual General Meeting
The FHANA Board of Directors has chosen Ocala, FL as the location
for the 2013 FHANA AGM which will be held March 22-23,
2013. The details for the event will be worked out over the
course of the next several months. The host hotel is the Ocala
Holiday Inn & Suites 877-622-5211.

The 2012 International Phyrso has finally arrived and is currently in
route to your home. We appreciate the patience of the membership
as we awaited this exciting publication from the KFPS.
Annual Friesian horse event and Grand Opening of
Horses for Heroes Program takes off in Texas
On Saturday May 26th, 2012, FHANA & SCFHA members Heather

.
Bonser and Bryan Blaylock held the 5th Friesian Fun Day & Horse
Health Clinic in conjunction with the Grand Opening of their farm's
new program. Wind Dancer Ranch is the first and only Friesian Horses
for Heroes facility worldwide.
The FFDHHC has become known as an event where you can learn
about the Friesian, attend educational seminars, meet people, ride
Friesians, tour an active natural/organic farm which includes multiple
animal species, various gardens, and orchard, shop our vendors and
win fantastic prizes. This year with the addition of Horses for Heroes,
an honorary ceremony took place. The Ritland Family was thanked
for their twelve years of military service after 911, their continued
service in retiring and rehabilitating military working dogs with the
creation of the Canine Warrior Foundation, and given a membership
into the program. H4H is for active and veteran military of all
branches, firefighters, EMT's, police, trauma and critical care
personnel, hospice care nurses, special needs teachers, and victims
of domestic/sexual abuse, and their families. H4H is a membership
program for the whole family as a unit ( $25 onetime fee), which
includes first rides free, discounted riding lessons, farm visits, shirts,
ball caps, gift vouchers from sponsors Tropical Rider Breeches and
Dover Saddlery, and a 15% discount off Kensington Protective
Products. The program's mission is to provide affordable recreational
and instructional equine, wellness and healing programs with horses
and other animals in a farm setting. The program gives our guests a
whole farm experience, together, strengthening the bonds of family,
especially for those suffering from conditions such as PTSD.
After the grand opening WDR was invited to other events to help give
the program a jump start, including the New Veteran's Memorial
Grand Opening in Sulphur Springs, TX on June 30th, a radio interview
and feature on KETR, 88.9 fm public radio on July 6th, a meet &
greet and Dressage performance for the Volunteer Fire Department's
annual Independence Day Celebration in Klondike, TX, July 7th, an
Open Farm Day at Wind Dancer Ranch on July 14th, and two summer
camps in August. Several local news and local and national horse
publications have donated coverage for the program as well. The
Program currently has two Friesian Ambassadors for public
appearances, 10 yr old mare Blomke (Thomas 327 X Lute 304)
Heather's mount, and 20 yr old mare Betsy T. (Jildert 299 X Dagho
247) who is Bryan's mount.
Wind Dancer Ranch and the Feathered Horse Classic have also teamed
up for the first annual Texas show for Friesian, Gypsy & Drum horses
in Belton, November 16 -18, 2012. The show is supporting the Horses
for Heroes Program with a raffle to benefit the program during the
show. Kensington Protective Products has donated three pieces of
their Roustabout Luggage Collection for the raffle, and more items
are expected. WDR will have a booth set up with information about
the program and the ranch, as well as be participating in the show,
and our Friesian Ambassadors will be present. For more information
