Double prepositions
Many of the prepositions given above can be used in combination with
each other to further emphasize the position or direction of the action.
Hij is aan promotie toe. He is due for a promotion.
Hij gaat naar huis toe. He’s going home. (see 10.4)
We gaan morgen naar We are going to Amsterdam
Amsterdam toe. tomorrow.
Ik ben net van Breda vandaan
gekomen.
I’ve just come from Breda.
