of quotes. It can only be followed by a noun or name; otherwise volgens
is used (see volgens).

als ‘as’ (see Conjunctions, 12.2.1.8 (g))
Note that the indefinite article is often not used after prepositional als,
depending on the idiom:
als kind as a child
Ik wil het als asbak gebruiken. I want to use it as an ashtray.
