Conjunctions
Voegwoorden
The distinction between conjunctions and certain sorts of adverbs is
sometimes difficult to make. This section thus deals with those words,
whether they be classed as conjunctions or adverbs, that join two or more
clauses in a sentence.
The footnote numbers next to the conjunctions in the lists in this chapter
do not indicate true footnotes but refer to the notes that follow those
lists, i.e. 1 refers to paragraph 12.1.1.1 and 2 refers to paragraph 12.1.1.2
etc.

Co-ordinating conjunctions
Nevenschikkende voegwoorden
The main distinguishing feature of a co-ordinating conjunction in Dutch
is that it does not have any effect on the word order of the following
clause:
en 1 and
want 2 for, because
of 3 or
maar but
doch (form.) 4 but, nevertheless
alleen (form.) 4 only, but
dus 5 thus, therefore
Hij is zeer arm maar hij heeft een auto.
He is very poor but he does have a car.
