K Mouibidu DEBAT 0835425372 kmouibidu@ncpg@gov.za Apologies were received from Ms. L. Ahjum, Ms. R Jacobs, Ms. J. Meyer, Mr. Binase and Dr. J. Mostert. 2 PRESENTATION The service provider made two short presentations respectively pertaining to (copy of each presentation appended under Annexure 1): a) Consultative Draft 1 of Volume 2 of the PSDF. b) Way forward as it relates to Volumes 3 and 4. The service provider further submitted a report entitled Inventory of Completed Tasks and Way Forward (1 November 2011), the purpose of which is to serve as: (i) An inventory of the goals and objectives of the PSDF/PDRMP stipulated in the: • Terms of Reference in the Service Level Agreement. • Supplementary aspects listed in Annexure A of the Terms of Reference. • Objectives stated in the approved Inception Phase Report dated 24 February 2011. (ii) Summary of the status of the project as it relates to the tasks completed. (iii) Summary of the way forward as it relates addressing the aspects listed above. 2.1 PRINCIPLES OF VOLUME 2 As part of the presentation, the following principles were emphasised: a) Volume 2 is an inventory of the key economic, social, infrastructural and environmental characteristics of the province to be addressed in Volumes 3 and 4. The service provider is not required to undertake primary research, the information was drawn accordingly drawn from the data provided by the DRD&LR and the various sectors, the stakeholder consultation process undertaken, and additional sources explored by the service provider. b) The written content, maps and figures presented in Volume 2 are, in general, direct quotes from the above information base and therefore do not necessarily represent the quality and format that will characterise the work of the service provider in Volume 3 and 4 and in the final PSDF document. c) The significance of perceived inaccuracies should be adjudicated in context of their potential to have a meaningful effect on the PSDF as a whole. d) Section H: Summary of Key Aspects is the primary component of Volume 2. Committee members need to ensure that all their sectoral interests have been listed in this section. e) The process of preparing Volumes 3 and 4 would involve ongoing information‐gathering. It would therefore not be practical and appropriate to, at this stage, consider Volume 2 as a final and complete product. Volume 2 should rather be seen as ‘work in progress’ to be completed together with Volumes 3 and 4. 2
