THE COMMISSION Office of the Premier of the Northern Cape & the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform jointly commissioned the preparation of a Provincial Development and Resource Management Plan / Provincial Spatial Development Framework for the Northern Cape. i.e. Required & prepared in terms of: The Northern Cape PSDF Northern Cape Planning and Development Act 7 of 1998 Municipal Systems Act 32 of 2000 Provincial Spatial Development Framework/Development & Resources Management Plan 4

OBJECTIVE OF MEETING Objective is to: a) Introduce the PSDF so as to promote a sense of ownership and enhance implementation efficiency. b) Encourage all stakeholders to think about the nature and quality of their places in a fresh manner and to express their meanings, wishes and aspirations. c) Provide opportunity for on‐going stakeholder input. PSDF, on its own, will not have any influence –it depends on committed leadership, good governance, integration of sectoral interests, full involvement of stakeholders !! “I have seen countries change, not because of the powerful, but because of ordinary people doing counter‐ cultural things. We must not depend on the powerful to change our country, we must depend on our own goodwill”.
