Statesmen Sports Network
Delta State University sports fans have the opportunity to
follow Statesmen and Lady Statesmen athletics statewide on
the Statesmen Sports Network!
Starting with the 2005 football season, Delta State athletic
broadcasts are carried in numerous markets throughout the
state and more stations are on the way!
This season SSN will broadcast over 100 regular season
single and double-header games. This includes all GSC
weekend series and select non-conference games.
In The Booth
Matt Jones returns for his fifth season as
play-by-play announcer for the Statesmen. The
Tuscaloosa, Ala. native came to DSU in 2001
from East Mississippi Community College.
Jones earned his Bachelor’s degree in Social
Science Education/History in 2003 from Delta
State University. He is currently pursuing a
Master’s degree in
in Sociology and Community Development.
Jones currently directs the Athletic Marketing and Media
Relations Office at DSU. Under this umbrella, he oversees the
day-to-day operations of the media relations, Statesmen
Sports Network, and athletic marketing offices.
Prior to coming to DSU, Jones handled play-by-play duties
for the University of Alabama baseball and women’s basketball
teams, and served as Sports Director for ClearChannel Radio of
Tuscaloosa.
Jones is married to the former Meg E. Warren of DeKalb.
The couple reside in Cleveland.
Richard Webster returns for his 11th
season as the color analyst for the Gridiron
Statesmen. The Clarksdale native is a 1971
graduate of Delta State University. He is also
a former Statesmen golfer.
Webster has served as the “voice” of Lee
Academy football for many years. He is also a
former contributor to the Clarksdale Press-
Register. Webster is married to the former Jane Brunini of
Clarksdale. They have three sons, Tripp, Jason and Alan. He
is currently employed by Cannon Ford of Clarksdale.
Lane Quinton will begin his first season as the sideline
reporter for the Statesmen Sports Network. He has served as
color analyst for Statesmen baseball the last three years.
The Cleveland native is a life-long fan/observer of Delta
State athletics and a 2002 graduate of Delta State University.
He is currently seeking a Master’s of Business Administration
from Delta State University. He is currently single and resides
in Cleveland.
Jim Ervin is in his first season as executive producer for
the Statesmen Sports Network. Ervin’s duties include on-site
engineering, pre-game preparation, in-game spotting as well
as coordination of SSN affiliates. Ervin is a 2000 graduate of
DSU. He is single and resides in Boyle.

Statesmen Game Day Schedule
Each Delta State University football game this season will
be broadcast on the Statesmen Sports Network. The seven
station network covers almost all of Mississippi.
Each broadcast will begin approximately 30 minutes
before the scheduled kickoff of the game. The complete
