R<strong>and</strong>y Grierson enters his fifth season as an assistant<br />

coach at his alma mater Delta State University. Grierson<br />

will serve as <strong>the</strong> defensive line coach in 2005 <strong>and</strong> will also<br />

serve as <strong>the</strong> Academic Coordina<strong>to</strong>r for all DSU athletes.<br />

The Pascagoula native spent four seasons as an<br />

offensive lineman on DSU’s squad from 1997-<strong>2000</strong>. In<br />

<strong>2000</strong>, Grierson anchored <strong>the</strong> NCAA DII National Championship<br />

offensive line for DSU. Grierson was a starter for two<br />

<strong>and</strong> a half years <strong>and</strong> was a First Team All-<strong>Gulf</strong> <strong>South</strong><br />

<strong>Conference</strong> selection at center in <strong>2000</strong>, as well as a twotime<br />

Academic All-GSC selection.<br />

Grierson began his coaching career as a graduate<br />

assistant on former head coach Steve Campbell’s staff in<br />

2001. Since that time Grierson has worked with <strong>the</strong><br />

offensive line, running backs <strong>and</strong> now defensive linemen.<br />

In May 2005, Grierson became <strong>the</strong> first “Doc<strong>to</strong>r” coach<br />

on staff as he earned his Doc<strong>to</strong>rate in Educational<br />

Leadership.<br />

Grierson is married <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> former Jennifer Hengst of<br />

Rolling Fork, Miss. <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>y currently reside in Clevel<strong>and</strong>.<br />

College: College: Delta State University, 2004<br />

Billy Knight enters his first season as a graduate<br />

assistant coach at Delta State University. Knight will assist<br />

with <strong>the</strong> offensive line <strong>and</strong> Coach Mike Bloomgren’s<br />

offensive scheme.<br />

A former st<strong>and</strong>out tackle for <strong>the</strong> <strong>Statesmen</strong>, Knight was<br />

selected First Team All-GSC offensive line <strong>and</strong> was a twotime<br />

All-<strong>South</strong> Region selection. His blocking skills<br />

helped <strong>to</strong> produce two of <strong>the</strong> most prolific offenses in<br />

America over <strong>the</strong> past two seasons.<br />

Knight played two seasons at Samford University<br />

before transfering <strong>to</strong> Delta State. The 6-6 Knight received<br />

his Bachelor’s degree in Social Science Education in<br />

2004. The Laurel native is currently pursuing a Master’s<br />

degree in Education.<br />
